Return of the Living Dead 5: Rave to the Grave on November 28th

For a while I thought the filmmakers just forgot that they had made this movie and that's why it hadn't been released on DVD. Or maybe that was intentional. Anyway, no features listed yet, just a date.

Wow, I'm really out of the loop... I love the first three, but I didn't even know there had been a fourth, much less a fifth!

They were both on the Sci-Fi Channel awhile back. They were...well...they could have been alot worse.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE SEQUALS (4 & 5)!!! You'll be glad you did.

They originally aired as Sci-Fi Channel originals. Aside from being horribly bad, part 4 loosely ties into part 3 but then manages to throw continuity out the window. Same goes for part 5. I only have two positive things to say about these two films 1.) decent make-up FX 2.) Cool DVD covers.

I picked up ROTLD4:Necropolis used at Hollywood Video. I thought it was pretty decent. Day of the Dead 2: Contagium on the other hand...

Sounds like they had a reason to forget this movie. I heard that the 4th wasn't that good and Rave to the Grave sounds like a horrible title for a horror movie.

The 4th was pretty bad, in my opinion. I'll still get the 5th anyway.

I'll check them out, now that I know they exist. I generally like movies that many consider to be terrible.

Although it's so very, very far from being what could even remotely be called a good movie, I enjoyed 4 and will probably check out 5.

That's sort of like telling someone who lost their legs in a car accident "Well, you could've died."

These movies have little to do with the first three. In fact, they don't even adhere to the "zombie rules" of the originals.

Depends on your point of view. I'm a huge fan of the original three (even the second one), so I was excited when I heard they were finally getting sequels. As stand alone movies these might have been tolerable, but as sequels to one of my favorite horror franchises they suck. The thing about a crappy sequel is that it pretty much ruins any chance of any actual good sequels afterwards.

I mean seriously,
Spoiler:
they had a guy headbutting a zombie! Yeah, just go out of your way to put your braaaaaains within inches of his hungry jaws!

Yup, depends on your point of view. I thought that the original was an instant classic. Perfect blend of comedy and horror that has never been duplicated (but Army of Darkness comes close).

But the sequels?! Part II seemed to be an alternate retelling of the first, and Part III had nothing to do with the other parts. Part IV, at least tried a little to tie back in to the first two, if even only slightly. And it was a nice change of pace from the frenetic MTV-style that is prevalent in Dawn04, 28 Days Later, and the Resident Evil films.

The first film is one of my favorite horror films. The last two were hard to watch.

None of them follow the rules set by the first movie.

Personally I would stop after the first film, but if you like the sequals, give these a rent.
