I know a lot of people here have the multi-region players but, why must people always make such comments (I know they're not putting anybody down) though? Not everyone goes out of their way to purchase such DVD players, and then DVD's from other regions on top of that.

I own a Region 1 player, and that won't change. As far as here in region 1, they haven't always included both versions of AOD here in the states. They have had a disc that included the alternate ending but then they ended up eventually releasing the bootleg edition, and eventually the 'boomstick' edition.

Thats one helluva sweet collection Xage. I think I've owned a little more 1/2 of what you have on display in the picture. I generally Ebay all my double-dips and keep the most current, providing it has everything the previously release had. I am currently on my 4th Army of Darkness DVD - Boomstick Edition. My 2nd Evil Dead II DVD - Anchory Bay SE, and my 4th Evil Dead DVD - Book of the Dead. I wish I had know about the Aspect Ratio thing before I got rid of my Elite Edition.

Wish Bruce had managed and Evil Dead 4, although we may come close. Don't know if you guys heard this or not, you probably have since some of your collections are off the chart, anyway my apologies if this is old news...

Bruce Campbell and Dark Horse are making a new movie called "My Name is Bruce" or "They Call Me Bruce". He play's himself and is kidnapped off a movie set by some serious Fanatics who think he's really Ash. Seems they are having a problem with the undead and think Bruce Campbell can help. Could be a real hoot, if this makes it to the movie theaters. Ted Raimi is also onboard. Wish Sam and Rob were involved. See link.

Its boomstick, not broomstick. But it you are going to buy it, make sure it comes with the "Join the Army" insert.

There are 2 "major" things to know if one buys "R2" from Europe.

1. Make sure the DVD player ofcourse can play Region 2
2. Make sure the TV and DVD can is a Multisystem (in order to play PAL system)

I currently own the Book of the Dead editions of ED1 and ED2. I also own the R3 edition of AoD and the Limited Edition R1.

I once had the Anchor Bay tin for ED2, but exchanged it for the regular edition--which I just recently sold.

I am also thinking of getting rid of the R1 Limited Ed of AoD and picking up a regular edition of the theatrical cut since I have the R3 for the Director's Cut. Besides the collectibility factor of it, should I get rid of the Limited Ed?

Hey, good news anyone! I'll be obtaining a copy of the Blockbuster rental only release of The Evil Dead by mail. Just found an auction on eBay where there was only 7 hours left with 2 bids at close to 10 or 12 dollars. After 4 more hours the first bidder returns to bid on it for around 15 something.

When there was about half an hour left on the auction, I called my dad since I don't have a credit card and asked if he could bid on it for me. Fortunately, none of the previous bidders returned and mu father won the auction for $16.49. The sellers says the cover and case is in mint condition but it doesn't have the insert but still, I'm happy about owning a copy of this.

xage, your Evil Dead collection is simply amazing! There's no way I'm ever going to own that many Evil Dead related merchandise (well at least not any time soon) but congratulations on building a stunning Evil Dead R1 DVD collection and I can't wait to see it grow even bigger. Also if it weren't for you, I wouldn't know about the Blockbuster ED DVD so thanks for posting the pictures and info about it.

note on the insert...when you get it in the mail...look behind the dvd cover. Blockbuster tends to put the inserts behind the cover rather than in the case...i bought a copy of hard boiled criterion cheap, thinking it was incomplete w.o the insert...a few months later i was taking it out of the blockbuster case and noticed it was behind the cover...checked a few other former rentals i bought, and all of them were that way...came across 4-5 inserts

BTW, if you still need to pick up the Evil Dead 2: Book of the Dead release, DDD is having a B1G1F Anchor Bay boxset sale. So, I finally got it for $12.

Wow, thanks alot Cameron, I probably wouldn't have thought of that. Now I'm more excited about the possibility that it may come with the insert, but I'm going to believe there isn't so I don't get disappointed if I don't find one. Well I can't wait to get my copy and if there isn't an insert, it's good to know that it's the same as the BOTD one so it's replaceable but thanks again, that will be the first thing I'll do when I get the DVD !

TomOpus, thanks for letting me know about that deal. Unfortunately they don't have the first BOTD, otherwise I'd take that deal. Still that's great if there's another box set you want to get aswell as the Book of the Dead. At least I can get it there for $24 which is pretty neat.

The Evil Dead Trilogy UK Boxset 1982-1993 Horror/Comedy
Director: Sam Raimi, Starring: Bruce Campbell

The Bonus disk, including unmatted 4:3 Evil Dead with DTS sound

Is packed with interviews of Sam Raimi, Jonathon Ross and Emily Booth

The interviews with Emily Booth, are very funny, try counting how many swear words she adds to the interviews.

All in all this is probs my favorite boxset full of features and commentary. Missing from this boxset is "The Army of Darkness" supermarket ending, you only get the original directors cut ending where he wakes up 100 years too late. Also missing is the princess having her top ripped off (viewed from behind) when she meets the evil Bruce. These cuts are available on the Region 3 version that was available from CD WOW

Only on the Region 3, this release has much better picture quality

This original theatrical ending is missing from the boxset, but on the R3 release

Picture: Anamorphic 1.66:1 (original 4:3 open matte of "Evil Dead" on disk 4, Anamorphic 1.85:1 on R3 "Army of Darkness")
Sound: Dolby Stereo 2.0 (Dolby 5:1 on the R3 Army of Darkness)

looks like a bit of a crease in your case there.
basically if you want everything region 2 you have to buy that set plus the standard AOD release. but i gave up on region 2 releases 7 years ago. i'm loyal to region 1. shows how thick some of us brits are when they feel the need to stick 'evil dead 3' on the AOD cover.

Amazingly I have none of these on DVD, never got around to upgrading my VHS. Blasphemy, I know. Trying to decide which package is THE one, as I don't enjoy double dipping.

she's a nobody. though that picture makes her look worse. she used to present some crappy soft porn reviews on live tv about 8 years ago. cant think of much she's done since. she has a website.
