Don't sell yourself short Camwar, that's a very respectable collection...I've only got around 300 DVD's so I'm in the same ballpark as you.

2007:

The framed addition in the middle is certainly the most valuable one!

Candyrocket

What are the 2 figures from on the very top of your curio cabinet on the 2007 pic?

The Magdalena(left) by Dene Mason / Clayburn Moore

Sinful Lady (right) Designed by Gary Hamm and Sculpted by Tony Cipriano. (Edition Size of 500)

I believe you can still find SL at the artist site : http://www.superham.com

There was suppose to be a series of these maquettes based on his artwork. The next one was suppose to be the Farm Girl.

Mags has been long out-of-production for some time now. She can be found on secondary market for some $$$. A limited "AP" version (w/o the base, different color scheme) is suppose to go on-sale at LC shops pretty soon (pics at CSMooreStudio.com)

You can see more of my stuff here

Candyrocket, where did you pick up the case with your statues and mini busts in it?

Ikea Detolf

I usually try to pick one up during the store's "Twice a Year" sale.

Hey Candyrocket:

Your collection and set-up looks nice and neat.

Even though you have a lot of figures and maquettes, I like how they're arranged in the display case. It doesn't look cluttered like other set-ups I've seen here.

Appreciate the comments Jeff.

My Fiancée hates clutter. If I had my way, our house would probably look like a LC Shop.

So I've simply got in the habit of changing out various pieces quarterly to give my office and the "small corner" of my living room a different look every now/then (The rest of the House is under her control ).

I've also become very selective of my purchases (DVDs, Prints, Statues, etc) since companies are churning stuff out left and right.

Wow, that's actually quite affordable. I'm moving spaces in my home and am looking for something a bit classier in which to display my toys.

candyrocket - where are your DVD shelves from and do you have them anchored to the wall or are they really sturdy?

Yep.... definitely a first choice for most collectors. I've seen where some have painted the top/bottom portions to match the surrounding furniture.

Apparently, some collectors also use various shevling platforms to raise the Detolfs so that all the glass shelves are within a decent viewing angle. I believe the NORREBO can hold two Detolfs

Ikea - Billy Bookcase w/ Height Ext and two additional shelves. (Only 4 are included with the actual unit)

I have the top shelf anchored with default strip that's included. Yes, they are pretty sturdy

Thanks. I remember seeing those in the store and thinking they were too deep. Do you have your DVDs pulled forward to the end of the shelves?

And when does Ikea normally have their twice a year sales? We just had one built in Michigan about a year ago so I didn't even know they had sales at all.

Correct, the DVDs are pulled forward. My 5 year-old niece loves to come over and push them all the way to the back of the shelf

I believe the sale occurs once in the summer (Jun) and in the winter (Jan)

Aw, that would suck. It's too bad Ikea doesn't make any big shelving units that would work really well with DVDs. I've been eyeing the Oskar cabinet at Deep Discount that holds about 500 DVDs. But I like the look of the Billy cabinets better. Hmm.

Thanks for the info though.

Last I saw anywhere from $300-$400 on ebay. However, keep your eyes open at Convention Scene or your LC Shop. Chances are you could get lucky finding the original or the mini-bust (also rare) for less than MSRP (which was somewhere in the $170-180 range).

Collectors are always reselling their pieces because something bigger & better pops up or they need make that car payment for next month .

The end result is that these HTF pieces are always in circulation somewhere.
