SEs of Kindergarten Cop, Twins, Timecop, other Universal pan & scan titles?
During the early days of DVD, Universal released a crapload of popular titles, pretty bareboned, but most annoying they were all in PAN & SCAN!!! That was in the late 90s and there haven't been any double dips of these titles yet. Anyone know if these titles are ever going to get the full DVD treatment? I, for one, would like to see the uber-violent version of Hard Target.

I'd be happy just getting some of those titles in widescreen. Sudden Death is one of my favorite action movies and I'm stuck with a lousy fullscreen disc. As for Hard Target, I saw an uncut workprint a few years ago and it was great. Definitely John Woo's best American film besides Face/Off.

Just to let you know, in other regions Timecop and Sudden Death were anamorphic widescreen.. I have both of them, I imported them for just that reason. If that helps anyone..

Twins and Kindergarten Cop need DVD upgrades desperately, no questions asked! For crying out loud these DVD's pop up at Walgreens all the time. Universal needs to update these and now!

Oh, Fierce Creatures, the sequel to A Fish Called Wanda. That was released to my knowledge in Full Screen only. You would think with the upcoming MGM/Sony 2-disc of the 1st film being released on August 1st 2006 Universal would do something with this title. You would think.

Universal has done this ALL through the years. IIRC, they released Tank and Iceman in pan/scan last year. Iceman was a paticular travesty, seeing as how it was shot in 2.35 : 1.

It's such a shame studios were so shortsighted to release P&S/non-anamorphic titles (although I give credit to Warner as they were much better in this regard, though still guilty on several titiles)....would love to have Kindergarten Cop and Twins in anamorphic OAR.

The R1 Universal DVD release of A Countess from Hong Kong (1967) was listed as 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, the R2 Universal DVD was listed as 1.33:1 full screen. However, both IMDB & TCM websites state that it was filmed in 2.35:1. Does anybody out there know the true aspect ratio?

I'll snatch up widescreen versions of Kindergarten Cop and Sudden Death in a second.

Death Becomes Her...
I'm waiting for that to come out in widescreen. I made the mistake and bought Fierce Creatures as it was in full frame (although when I poped it in, the first 10 mins are in widescreen...tricked me).

Look like Twins and Kindergaten Cop may finally be released in Letterbox, 16:9 in the Arnold Schwarzenegger: Comedy Favorites Collection:Twins / Kindergarten Cop / Junior on 9/18/2007 -- according to this site: http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/recent_additions.htm -- also is listed up at LasersEdge: http://www.lasersedge.com/item_detai...86196&tMedia=1
If they are Widescreen, I'd buy it! Looks like Universal wants to keep milking those crappy FS dvd's seperately if this release holds as WS!

Hopefully they don't use Fox's method of putting the same old P&S and non-anamorphic DVD's together in a box set and lie on the box that all 3 are anamorphic to fuck you over.

Id buy the three arnold films if they were anamorphic just to get KC and Twins. Could care less about Junior. The cover is meh. I bet they will just be the current discs.
