Uhm, you would only see splices, scratches, and artifacts on 16mm if you don't know what the heck you're doing. Professionals know what they are doing.

Gee, way back when I went to NYU film school and we shot on 16mm because that's the equipment they had there and we learned on I guess that the DPs for all the shoots we did had it wrong to try and make the films we worked hard on look as good as possible. What were they thinking?!?! We should have just realized that "Hey, if we can only afford to use 16 and not 35mm, let's make it look as crappy as possible. Let's make visible splices and break the film in spots and scratch it up and drag it across the floor..."

In the van early in the film-- not sure if it was just before or just after they picked up the hitchhiker-- the color seemed to mute slightly in mid scene, as if there was a minor degradation. The palette was vibrant (relatively speaking) when the movie began, but seemed to shift down a notch at that point. Also observed a moment where the audio and video were slightly out of sync just after the shift in color.
Anyone else notice these?
