Even a "we tried to get the elements for a proper release, but we were unable to" would have been better than the press release we got.

Well, although I have still yet to watch the Infernal Affairs trilogy myself, IMBD does credit Andy Lau as playing Inspector Lau Kin Ming in both Part I & III. Actually, so does the review for the trilogy on this very website.

I think LickTheABCs was referencing the fact that DD spelled it Internal Affairs on that cover, instead of the proper spelling of Infernal Affairs. Internal Affairs is a 1990 movie starring Richard Gere and Andy Garcia, not Andy Lau.

Well in that case, LickTheABCs was right. I just checked IMDB and he wasn't in Internal Affairs.
I didn't even catch that. Wow. That is pretty bad. My apologies.

I saw The Enforcer at Best Buy today for $14.99. I am probably going to hold off on getting it until the price drops or the next DD sale this summer.

i enjoyed the enforcer, but was really caught off guard by the english track as opposed to the usual subtitles.

But, the end fight makes it worth owning just for that, plus the usual ridiculously informative Logan commentary, makes it still worth owning.

I'm wondering if Johnnie To's MAD DETECTIVE is on their slate for this year. It is an exclusive at blockbuster right now, but is distributed by The Weinstein Company, so here's hoping.

All of Dragon Dynasty's other titles have been released here by Alliance, so this possibly means the title is not a Dragon Dynasty title at all. Considering their track record, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Huh, I didn't know BB had it, it is a great movie. I had the HK disc when it first came out then I picked up the MoC when it was on sale. I love the movie. I doubt DD will have it, I think IFC owns it.

Picked up The Enforcer and Protege today. Probably won't get around to watching them for awhile. What's DD's next scheduled release?

There's no reason not to buy the MoC version. It's region-free, NTSC, and can be had for around $20 with shipping, which is a reasonable price for such a fine release. I see little chance DD will release it (as zombeaner noted, it's an IFC title -- the Weinsteins only handle IFC's distribution, they don't actually own them) and I doubt they would do a better job anyway. And given IFC's track record, the U.S. retail release will be exactly the same as the bare-bones "Blockbuster exclusive" disc. (I'm also willing to bet the Mongrel version is an exact port.)

What's funny is the back synopsis lists him as from "House of Flying Daggers" instead.

ehh, i figured i'd post it here, cause it is a genius release. I was wondering how the dvd release of "A Good Carnival" is. I dvr'ed it off of the sundance channel, and i hate how they put the subtittles below the bottom of the screen. So i was lookin at the dvd, how is it?

This is the info that I got from another site. The rumour is that DD is in dire financial trouble and they are on a verge of folding. This may explains the reason why their last few releases (Supercop and My Father The Hero for example) had been so lacking.

That's really sad to hear. However, it doesn't surprise me considering Martial Arts/HK movies are really for a niche audience. I also can't say I've read very much excitement about their DVD's considering the backlash they have gotten for producing "Inferior" product. They have produced very good supplemental material which alot of these movies that they have released probably would not have gotten otherwise. But, people don't want to spend $14.99 for interviews/commentary.
I hope they do get a chance to release their remaining product as I assume they have shot alot of bonus material already.
That web site did mention recently that the only DD titles that sold well were the ones with Jackie Chan, Jet Li or Chow Yun Fat as leads, which American audiences are more familiar with.
