Boomerang was removed from Fox's schedule for "legal reasons." If I come across anymore specific information, I'll be sure to let everyone know.

I just saw a handful of copies at a local store... is is still worth anything? Or have they fixed the 'legal' problems and re-released it?

London Drugs, it's a drug store in Canada. I'm not sure it is just the one store or throughout the chain. I remeber hearing it was pulled when I was browsing at lunch but figured it finally got released. I saw it ina Fox Noir display that they had setup along with some other titles that I didn't catch the name of. I saw at least 4-5 DVDs maybe more.

So you think it's worth picking up a few copies?

Well, I went back down and they only had two copies, I had thought there were 4-5 but didn't look closely enough.

some got out, I got mine at borders pretty easily.

still no word on the legal issues...i wouldn't plan on building a mansion on selling copies, but you could probably get some good trades out of it

So nobody knows what the story on this DVD is? I don't understand why these things are so shrouded in mystery. It seems like there are enough interested parties, and no real reason to keep the issue a secret, that it wouldn't be that hard to get some real news on it. Yet constantly, we have to go on rumors and speculation about this stuff. Somebody at Fox must know what the problem is. Why can't they tell us what the deal is, and whether this DVD is going to be released or not?

If it really is a legal issue, the lack of information is not that surprising. The affected parties may simply not be eager for their objections to be made public, for whatever reason. Other negotiations may be affected, or maybe they just want to avoid the embarrassment.

Even if it's just a technical issue, sometimes studios have a hard time admitting that their quality control process missed a fairly straightforward problem.

Of course many would argue that being open about such matters is the best policy, but some companies choose to keep them private anyway. We'll probably find out what the story is at some point.

My local Borders had 3. I bought them all and gave the extra two away at my cost to film noir friends I chat with on-line. Gotta spread the love where you can.

How about spreadin' the love across the Atlantic ?
Is a fellow dvd collector willing to ship a spare copy for a reasonable price to Germany.
Maybe this fellow is looking out for a special dvd from Amazon.de - that wouldn't be a problem. Using my PayPal account to pay this nice guy either.

As a heads-up, I've seen copies show up just this past weekend in two area FYE stores (upstate NY and VT) for $14.99. Seems odd that it'd appear over a month after then initial planned released, but whatever. So drop by your local FYE if anyone is still after a copy.

This thread about Boomerang is very interesting indeed BUT the greatest thing is that the Fox Film Noir site on the net is never updated and they don't even pre-promote the upcoming releases.

DDD just informed me they shipped I Wake Up Screaming and House Of Strangers. WTF? I already received those a couple of months ago. Looks like I've been charged ten dollars for the two combined. Guess I'll just sell them, rather then go through the hassle of returning them.
