Amazing Stories Season 1 - 7/18/06

TSOD has the story - all 24 episodes on 4 (single-sided) discs.

Looking over the episodes of season one, some of these were pretty good. But others - well let's just say I'm still upset at the way "The Mission" kept me riveted to the edge of my seat for an hour and then produced the worst cheat for an ending I've ever seen in my life.

Yes, thank you. If I ever meet Spielberg the first thing I'm saying is
Spoiler:
"Big cartoon wheels?! Are you freaking kidding me!"
and then punching him in the balls. That's one of the greatest pieces of drama ever made for television and then THAT happens.

Despite the lack of love for "The Mission", I'll actually be buying the entire set for this episode and "Ghost Train".

I really liked this series as a kid. I have no idea whether I'd still like it. I guess I'll Netflix the first disc.

These episodes were really hit and miss, much like Tales From The Darkside and Ray Bradbury Theater. Doubt I'll be picking this up, but I may rent them just to see some of the better episodes.

And Universal delivers lame-ass extras for the set; deleted scenes.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=5498

What the hell do the special features people do there? Here's a look into their meeting:

Dan: Hmm....sooo....Amazing Stories....does anyone have any ideas of what we can put on there?

Heather: Hmmmm..... how about deleted scenes?

Dan: OMG, Heather, that's amazing!! AMAZING!! You're going to make VP in no time. Wow, that's better than your idea of putting an episode from Magnum PI season 5 onto the Magnum PI season 4 set. Where do you come up with this stuff?

Everyone in the room: THREE CHEERS FOR HEATHER!!

Yeah that's weird... not even a featurette for a show that brought together so many big name stars and directors.

I think I've only seen this once, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy.

This is awesome. I remember the episode "Mirror Mirror" which freaked the shite out of me. Can't wait.

Thanks OP

I watched a lot of these as a kid and would love to revisit them on DVD. I might have to Netflix them first, though, since I have no idea how well they'll hold up for me now.
