Longest gone without buying a DVD?
I would be hard pressed to say anything more than 3 weeks to 1 month and that may even be a stretch. I seem to go through withdrawl if i don't. just when i think to myself there is nothing left i want to buy, something always pops up. it is a sickness.
so what is the longest you have gone without buying a single dvd? |
probably a couple of months. My collection is at the size now where I have lots of variety and now I'm more choosy of what movies I buy.
Looks like I didn't pick anything up from 1/12 to 1/26. So that's two weeks. That's probably my longest stretch in a while.
Because I work on call and some weeks have more hours than others, I have gone a few months between purchases as I had to pay my bills. Now that I have somewhat solid hours, maybe a month at the most and then I buy a bunch within a short period.
Probably a few months.
Lately, one-two weeks has been my max. If there's nothing good that week, I'll work on my backlog of "things I missed" or "things I recently became interested in".
Since Geoff has sent me a steady diet of screeners over the past few years, I can safely say that I've gone <s>months</s> <s>weeks</s> <i>days</i> at a time without buying a single DVD <font size=1><font color=darkgray>boxed set</font></font>. :D
About a week is the longest i can go before the withdrawals set in. Right now is probably the longest i have gone because i am holding off buying anything else (besides King Kong) so that the Planet of the Apes ape head set will be my 500th, which will be cool since that is my all-time favorite movie.

40+ years.
Oh, you mean after I bought my first one ... probably 3-4 months, there are times when I just get sick of them. |
Few months...Hell, it was probably 6 months from when I got my first few dvds ever until when I got more. My purchasing of dvds increased as my salaries got larger, and when I first got a dvd player I was still just a lolely old college student.
Surely a few months though not as long as six months. I may go many many months without buying anything brand new though, especially around Christmas time when I know I'm going to get them as gifts :)
I'd say about a month.
About 5-6 weeks. Usually after such a long dry spell, there is a single day when you have to buy like 5-6 or more dvds, like tomorrow.
Maybe 5 or 6 days.
Sadly enough, this is exactly why I keep a spreadsheet. Good question BTW.
Since I started tracking .. Longest drought: 57 days between Aug and Oct of 2001 Average between buys: 4.08 days Not to crap the thread, but here's a few other interesting stats .. at least to me :) Most purchases in one month: 35 Least purchases in one month: 0 (twice) Average purchases per month: 8.38 |
About 3 months.
I tried really hard this year. No purchases from 1/1 until last weekend :o
When I first moved back home, I left most of my stuff in storage back on the mainland (including my DVD's and player). Since I was living out of my suitcase for the better part of a year, and my Mom had no DVD player at her house at that time (1999), I didn't buy any DVD's at all. So I went a whole year then. After I shipped my stuff back home, and had a DVD player once again, the buying frenzy resumed. Under more normal circumstances, I think my longest buying drought lasted about 2 months.
A few weeks I'd guess.
Probably 2 months.
Two weeks
Visitor Q that must be one crazy spread sheet you use there, very cool
To answer the question about 2 months. |
that`s like asking a crack addict how long he can do without!
I'll probably say three weeks to a month, and that was during a horrible sluggish time a couple years ago where nothing came out I really cared about. Now I have to cut back at the current time but I'll still buy probably one single DVD that's not too expensive every week (example, no tv box sets... damn, and I wanted the X-Files 4-6 too...).
About 30 minutes. :) They think I'm kidding... ;)
