From Box Sets to OOP...the most treasured gem in your collection thread! (with pics)

It can be anything...a box set from a foreign land that looks real cool or that rare, OOP that you just love is in YOUR collection. Perhaps, it is just your favorite movie of all time. So brag a little (it's ok this time) and let's see them...

What DVD in your collection do you covet most???

Even though i have a couple expensive rarities and i do love them, the ones (the two) that i truly cherish are...

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" The Chosen Collection ...I've had such a love affair for this show that i was more than ecstatic when this collection was released. to have the entire series in such a great looking package was a true fan's delight.

"King Kong" (1933) 2-Disc Collector's Tin...i just love looking at this high quality tin that holds a classic film which i will be enjoying for the first time this night.

No pics, but I <3 my Brazil Criterion Collection

RobCA 03-18-06 06:21 PM

I ♥ my 10 seasons of Friends even more now that I finally have that cool box to display them in. I also ♥ my complete collections of some of my other favorite TV shows of all time, like the original Twilight Zone, and many more.

Most prized oop - Little Shop Of Horrors w/alternate ending.

"Favorite" - seasons 1-6 of Seinfeld.

ernestrp 03-18-06 06:39 PM

High Plains Drifter (the orignal release with the cool cover art) and the WB box sets I have and my western collection and the noir's and my Walmart bargain bin sized collection of cheap titles that I might get around to watching before I die, not likely.

ryuryu2949 03-18-06 06:39 PM

I love my new Universal Hitcock collection sitting on my shelf next to the new WB Hitchcock collection. Pretty sweet!

ernestrp 03-18-06 06:45 PM

I forgot my Delta/Laserlight collection of early Hitchcock films with Tony Curtis doing introductions. I wonder if they are still available?

Mine will be coming in in a few weeks: Planet of the Apes Ultimate collection w/ the Ape head.

The Valeyard 03-18-06 09:02 PM

Mine is a recent purchase - the Kimba The White Lion Ultimate Edition Box Set. Box sure is purdie.

Second fav is the 5 Disc Gamera: The Box that I got back in 2001.

About 3 days ago it was My So-Called Life (but I'm currently selling it on ebay), so now it is Dances with Wolves Theatrical Cut (with full bitrate DTS) and/or Robocop Criterion

Ya, way to bring it.

Yes, this "pics" thing is working out quite well.

I think I'll start a "most treasured gem in your collection and the song you've written about it" thread soon.

Maybe that one will have pictures. ;)

I love every autographed DVD that I have, since they all have sentimental value and mark a time that I met a celebrity. Of the bunch, though, this one is my favorite:

My entry for my favorite DVD that's not signed would have to be:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

It was one of my very favorite movies as a youngster when it first came out, and when I got into the DVD hobby it quickly became my most wanted title. I waited for a couple of years before it ever got a release. It was well worth the wait, though. I'll never forget how thrilled I was when I first read the announcement here that Criterion was going to add it to their collection. Not only is it getting a DVD release, but it's getting a proper release from, in my opinion, the best possible company. It's no longer my favorite movie. It's not the best release in the world, or even anywhere near the best in Criterion's collection, but all things considered it's easily my pick.

Probably not my favourite film, but I was the most excited to get it.

My 10 disc Matrix boxset with the Neo bust.

I love the way my R2 Buffy sets look. I have Seasons 4-7 (for 1-3, I have the U.S. versions). I got 4-7 from R2 for the widescreen (please don't start that fight again ;) ).

The picture doesn't do it justice. The inner part opens like a book with separate sleeves for each disc. They are gorgeous.

I've been fortunate to land a few foreign limited edition sets that get me jacked up whenever I see them displayed - on or off TV. A couple of them are no longer available except on the aftermarket ...

Some Pixar goodness from Japan (Two of my favorite US animated films ever):

The Incredibles R2 LE

http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2...nded9xd.th.jpg

Monsters Inc. R2 LE

http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/7...sinc1dp.th.jpg

Call me an Oshii fanboy as these are some of my favorite films, animated or otherwise excellently presented through the DVD medium:

Innocence R2 First Pressing LE Tin
Ghost in the Shell R2 LE
Avalon R3 SE [Full Bit DTS]

http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/740/oshiia2ry.th.jpg

Finally, we've all been given a true anamorphic release of Lost Highway and although the picture still suffers, it has a very good surround sound mix for a film of its age. It also has one of the best OSTs of any film IMHO:

Lost Highway R2 French MK2 release

Of course as with everything DVD, I could not just pick one or two

Harold Wazzu 03-19-06 12:12 PM

Ok, so here's my pic since I didn't post it the first time...

What I've reviewed: Freaks and Geeks - The Yearbook Edition
