I will probably just stick with the old SE unless I hear the new extras are GREAT and the transfer is much improved. Looks like this is what is new:

The cover art has a bit of a Brokeback Mountain feel to it, but I'm still very impressed with Fox's latest round of DVD artwork (the others being Patton, Tora! Tora! Tora!, and The Longest Day). They must have hired some new graphic designers. I definitely prefer this to the SE artwork. Looks like a no-brainer double-dip for me.

I never picked up the original so I'll definately get this one.
And I agree joliom, Fox's cover art is certainly getting better as of late.

The DVD I currently own has some missing dialogue that has always bugged me. When Butch and Sundance are being chased after the train heist, Butch is wondering out loud how to lose them. Sundance says, "You're the smart one, Butch. You'll think of something." But Butch's response - "That's a load off my mind." - is missing. I never saw the movie in the theater, but I do know that line exists on my VHS copy.
Not sure if other fans of the movie have noticed this. It annoys me to the point of wanting to double dip if the problem is fixed.

Butch Cassidy is among my favorite movies, and I'd be likely to double dip if the new transfer is a lot better than the previous one. However, if all we're getting new are some extras and a new commentary, then it'll depend on the price at release.
I don't know the movie well enough to detect missing lines, but there are some great lines in it. I always liked "Not naturally blabby, I suppose". I think it took me several viewings before I finally understood what they said at the final standoff. They thought it was "LaForge" (the tracker guy) but I originally thought they said "a force" (meaning they knew it was a large army force). At least it made more sense why they charged out afterwards.

No double dip for me. Making the cover art look similiar to Brokeback Mountain is a huge insult. Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid is one of the greatest movies of all time. Oh, and Paul Newman and Robert Redford should sue for demation while they're at it. Or whatever the term is for insulting their image.

What a landmark year for Paul Newman releases and re-issues!!
Love this movie. In my top ten. One question though - Region 2 has different special features as opposed to the region 1 edition. This includes a deleted scene. Wonder why it isnt included in the Region one issue?

The following features are included for region 2 but not region 1.
-Deleted Scene - Tent
-George Royhill and The Challenge By Paul Newman
Region 2 doesnt get the William Goldman commentary either.

I don't see why the new cover is an "insult"; I like it more than Region 2's floating heads. It looks like the design is supposed to fit in with other Fox CEs.
