Seinfeld Season 7 ???????

Any news yet on this season and beyond...

Al_Tahoe 03-13-06 12:24 AM

No news that I've heard. If they follow their previous release patterns, expect Season 7 in June or July and Seasons 8 and 9 in late November.

M Polo 03-13-06 06:50 AM

May be a dumb question but how many seasons are there total. I am a fan, just can't remember...

It ran for 9 seasons.

Dubya 03-13-06 07:37 AM

They released season four in May of last year, so I would expect 7 to be released in May as well. 8 & 9 will follow in November.

GuruTwo 03-13-06 01:04 PM

but Season 5 was long-announced by this time last year. I believe Sony officially announces their titles exactly 11 weeks before the release date and that info usually leaks several weeks in advance so it would be almost impossible to get it out in May.

JuryDuty 03-14-06 07:19 AM

I think the last three will all come out in November, also available in a gift box set, for the holidays. That way there will have been three box sets for the show.

Seinfeld - Vol 3: Season 4 has today been officially, formally announced by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
I bet we'll see an announcement very shortly.

But the other two gift sets they've released only had two volumes each. Why would they deviate from that this time around?

First two volumes released November 2004, along with gift set.
Third volume released May 2005.
Fourth and fifth volumes released November 2005, along with gift set.

Based on that, I'm guessing we'll see this:

Volume 6 (Season 7) released in May.
Volumes 7 and 8 (Seasons 8 and 9) released in November, along with a gift set containing both of those, along with a collectible bowl of mulligatawny or something.

Which, I just now realized, would be unlikely, since the Soup Nazi episode is in Season 7.

So maybe it'll be a miniature Festivus pole or something instead. Even better.

M Polo 03-14-06 09:31 AM

I wonder if we will see a collector box/case send in type deal like they did for Friends.

quickfire 03-14-06 03:39 PM

Isn't the Soup Nazi on one of these seasons coming up?If so .....how about a little cook book of soup recipes.......from the Soup Nazi?Heck I would try to make some just to see if it was as good as it seemed on the show!

Yeah, but if you go back and look at the show's news history on TVshowsondvd.com you'll see that the Season 4 release was rumored on February 23rd, nearly three weeks before the official announcement. We don't have an official announcement this year, and we don't even have rumors this year.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're thinking you're gonna get "Seinfeld" Season 7 by May. There's nothing whatsoever to suggest that that's gonna happen.

I think it makes all the sense in the world to maintain the release schedule they already started with the previous sets but then again, I don't run Sony.

There could be many possible reasons for the change: the extras might not be ready, they might be withholding it for the holiday season or they may simply be releasing it a couple months later, but a May release is really unlikely.

Matt 03-14-06 04:55 PM

You do have a point in that there isn't any pre-announcement info out there this time around, whereas with the previous releases there was a ton of info leaked before their official announcements.

So, maybe you're right. Or, maybe they're just being particularly tight-lipped with info, for some reason.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Matt 03-14-06 05:08 PM

And, looking at their Seinfeld news (link), the first mentions of Seasons 5 and 6 were in mid-September of last year, and they were released in mid-to-late November--about a two-and-a-half month gap there. So it's reasonable to think they could still announce Season 7 pretty soon for a late-May release.

DarthVong 03-15-06 01:45 AM

Sony has release dates up to May 16th, so late May is a very good possibility for now.

Deadpool 03-15-06 12:53 PM

Waiting for this season more than any other..."The Shower Head" my favorite episode :D

GuruTwo 03-15-06 07:59 PM

I'm just excited about this season because it means I'll have the entire "Larry David Era" on DVD. I'm still buying seasons 8 & 9 but season 7 marks a milestone, too.

Michael Corvin 04-13-06 12:54 PM

Well boys, May is just around the corner and no announcement/release in sight. I don't think it's happening, unless I missed something somewhere.

coli 04-13-06 02:05 PM

I think the gift sets sell so well around Christmas, I suspect they will do Seasons 7,8,9 as one gift set in November '06.

I betcha they want the Soup Nazi gifts to be included, and that is Season 7, so that may be the reason for the delay. Think about all the soup recipes that Elaine found that they can include in the gift set.

Sorry guys, "NO DVD's FOR YOU, You have to wait 6 months!"

Yeah, I was thinking about that the other day when Sony announced a bunch of TV releases for mid-June.

So, I was wrong. Wasn't the first time, and it definitely won't be the last time. :)

I still think we'll have the final three seasons on DVD by Christmas, though.

bunkaroo 04-13-06 03:08 PM

And hear I was thinking I could finally clear "The Soup Nazi" off my DVR after almost a year. Not yet....

"You're schmoopy!"

I doubt it, I think we'll get 7 & 8 as the Holiday gift set and then Season 9 will be released on it's own (maybe not even until November '07) since they can hype it up since it's the final season.

Yeah, hang onto that. I don't think anyone airs Seinfeld anymore. ;)

Seantn 04-13-06 03:55 PM

I just took an online survey a few weeks ago, and it was asking about DVD's. It said "Would you be interested in buying the final seasons of Seinfeld when it is released this November?"

So I can confirm that it is being released in November...It even had a list of the special features on it, but since I don't really watch Seinfeld, I don't remember what they are.

Seantn 04-13-06 03:56 PM

The online survey was from a company that is hired by the studios, just so you guys know that it wasn't some random survey made up by anyone.
