Mine is Bikini Bandits Save Christmas. They took a perfect concept - girls in bikinis with guns - and turned into an unfunny, unsexy long-form Flash animation that is rather dreadful.

The one disc in my collection that pisses me off every time I see it is A.I., because I bought the foolscreen by mistake... I've never seen the movie in widescreen, isn't that sad? I think it's 2.xx : 1 too, so I'm sure I missed a bunch.

Nah, it's 1.85:1.

Foolscreen. -rolleyes- -ohbfrank-

Usually I don't have a problem getting rid of DVDs if I don't like them. In fact I'm too the point where I purposefully go through the collection regularly and rewatch some old ones to decide whether or not I want to keep them. Those that I don't I give to a library and take the tax/donation write off :D (much easier than trying to sell them IMHO). There is one though that I don't know how/can't get rid of that way since it's R2 though.... a UK series called Soldier Soldier. It was recommended by some people around here but it just didn't do anything for me.

JM1 03-09-06 08:34 AM

I can remember the only DVD I bought that was so bad I actually did use it as a drinks coaster, and that was Hardware Wars.

But in truth there are quite a few in my collection that I regret buying, ones that were either bought on impulse, or in those weak "It cannot really be as bad as they say, can it?" moments, or ones that I have bought before reading anything about.

Ones I could name would be Stealth, Blade 3, Ballistic - Ecks Vs Sever...probably a few more that I cannot recall at the mo.

Jaymole 03-09-06 09:16 AM

Mission to Mars
Red Planet
Lost in Space

I'm a sucker for sci-fi

GF looks like shit on dvd.....and SF has one of the worst layer changes I've ever seen. Both need serious upgrading and SF, btw, looks awesome in HD!! Please, bring on the HD discs!

EddieN 03-09-06 09:38 AM

A silent movie, Picadilly. Bought it blind after reading numerous positive reviews. Bored me silly.

Yep, that happens in every "worst of" thread.

At the same time, it's a lot easier to hate something that other people love, because if you think a film is completely mediocre, then its popularity can be baffling. That's why movies like Napoleon Dynamite are so polarizing. On the other hand, most people are completely ambivalent towards Pootie Tang and The Master of Disguise, because they're bad movies that almost everyone recognizes as such.

However, even this reasoning has its limits. People who name The Godfather (for the movie, not the transfer) or Donnie Darko are just trolling and/or allowing a gut reaction to a movie overwhelm their critical judgment.

If this was another "worst movie you've seen" thread I'd agree with you. On the other hand, with blind buys I could actually understand the choices. You come on DVD Talk and hear a bunch of people praising some film that's widely considered a classic. You decide to buy it sight unseen and it turns out it's not your cup of tea at all. The majority of someone's collection is going to be movies they KNOW they like, so if they take a risk on something like The Godfather or Scarface and don't like it, by default it's going to be one of their least favorite DVDs in the collection.

ZOMBIE LAKE

Nazi zombies, the occasional gratuitous nekkid ladies scenes, all set in a European village, what's not to like?! Oh was I wrong. :(

How is naming Napoleon Dynamite okay but Donnie Darko is not? Can you be anymore subjective? I thought Donnie Darko was the single worst movie I've ever seen, ever. If you think my opinion or my post was a "troll" post because I don't like something you did.. feel free to use the button to report it to the moderators. I'm deadly curious to see what action they take.

Hey, I love Pootie Tang. I think it's hilarious. Batman Begins doesn't even come close to it.

"There will be many tie te-pees."

"No na-no my brotha."

Absolutely brilliant! :D

This is one of your WORST movies? Damn ... I thought it was one of the best films of 2005. IMO of course

Anyway, my worst DVD? I dunno ... if I don't like a DVD I either
a. don't buy it
b. sell it
or
c. give it away

cupcake jesus 03-09-06 10:18 AM

Not sure what the worst movie in my collection is - I like the movies in my collection, but the worst DVD, by far is my public domain copy of Meet John Doe. Brutal. A great movie that got no attention on DVD - it really needs a proper release.

cheers,

-the Jesus

It's not one of my worst movies, it's "the" worst.

awmurray 03-09-06 10:52 AM

Just looked through the list.

The absoulte worst is Blood Bath. It's one of those 10 movies in a single box thing. Someone gave it to me. This is one big fat turd.

Of the ones I bought, I'd have to say 8 Heads in a Duffle Bag. I didn't find any humor in this movie at all. Hated it from start to finish. It was a blind buy...think I paid around $4 for it.

Wait...are we talking about worst MOVIE or worst DVD??? I'm confused.

lordwow 03-09-06 11:07 AM

Medicine Man

It was a present for Christmas a few years back, and I can't get rid of it because it has no sale value.

Most people have picked movies but I'd imagine a bad TV show or concert or any non-movie DVD would qualify.

X 03-09-06 11:25 AM

For worst per $, easily the CC release of The Rock.

For just plain worst all around, probably A Polish Vampire in Burbank.

Greg613 03-09-06 12:28 PM

For VHS: Bloodsucking Freaks
DVD: Dr. T and the Women.

Terrible movies.

DVDChris 03-09-06 12:45 PM

Oh boy, I've got a few and it's hard for me to decide.

American Ninja 2&3 (but it's ninjas, who doesn't like ninjas?)
Cannonball Run II
Catwoman
The Grinch (can't even give this one away)
Hulk
Mars Attacks
Popeye
Supergirl

starseed1981 03-09-06 12:49 PM

Ashamed to say; that I own a copy of "The Cat In THe Hat" w/ Mike Myers.

danegger 03-09-06 01:09 PM

For me, the worst movie in my collection would have to be...The Cutting Edge. But, it's my wife's so I can't get rid of it.

jdpatri 03-09-06 01:13 PM

Batman & Robin.

Damn box set.

Most people would probably say Police Academy 2/3 Double Feature. But I can't help it. I like the Police Academy movies. That disc was worth every penny of the $7 I paid for it.

Your not alone. How about Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Was given to me long ago. Don't know if I'll ever watch it though.

Jim 03-09-06 01:36 PM

I thought I would have nothing to add to this thread since I regularly clear out DVDs that I no longer want, then I remembered 'Die Another Day'. The main reason I have it is because it seems stupid to have every other Bond DVD except that one. There is no trade-in value for it either. I liked it in the theater, but a repeat viewing on DVD was much worse. Strangely, I liked DAD much better in the theater than the other Brosnan Bonds, but I have enjoyed those much more watching them again on DVD than I did in the theater. DAD does have some pretty good spots, so I'll probably watch it again someday and cringe through the iceberg CGI scene.

Mondo Kane 03-09-06 01:55 PM

Somers' MUMMY movies. I only keep them because the neice always watches them when she visists.

brianglenn 03-09-06 01:59 PM

Austin Powers in Goldmember
Matrix Reloaded

Raffurar 03-09-06 02:23 PM

Worst content dvd is probably some old South Park episode disc, from before the season sets, haven't watched those in ages. As far as the quality of the disc itself and the transfer, etc.. I have one of those Classic Cartoon 2 disc collections with mostly Fleischer Popeye and Superman cartoons. I love those, and so far these public domain print releases are all that's available. Of course it cost me like $3 for 3 hours of cartoons, so i'm not complaining!

rotfl

You're right, but no one's going to admit we should close 98% of the internet. All we need is Amazon and pr0n, but we all need down time.

I'd have to say The Matrix Reloaded because it's the only full screen I had. I bought a bunch of new DVDs from a seller on eBay and didn't notice this was the only full screen. It was right there in the description, but I was buy happy because of the combined shipping offer. :brickwl2:

LawnWrangler 03-09-06 03:23 PM

Two movies that I unfortunately have but pretend I don't are:

Robocop 2 and Alien Resurrection.

Ugh. Two awful movies that I can't get rid of because they're both in those fold out box sets...

big e 03-09-06 03:26 PM

For me it would be Friday the 13th pt 7, House of the Dead, and Hercules in New York.
