The Fox and the Hound 25th Anniversary Edition -- Possible Summer of 2006 release?
As per ultimatedisney.com:
The image from the ad was taken from the ultimatedisney.com website:
March 4, 2006 - Signs have been pointing to a DVD re-release of Disney's 1981 animated film The Fox and the Hound for a while. The 2000 Gold Collection disc was quietly discontinued earlier in the year and a sequel is set to bow before 2006 ends. Now, thanks to Mike from MadonnaDownload.com, we have confirmation that The Fox and the Hound will be reissued as a 25th Anniversary Edition DVD sometime "this summer." This scan of an ad inside the Chicken Little DVD reveals that much, but nothing else as far as the film presentation or bonus features are concerned. You can check out the MadonnaDownload forums for screencaps and scans from Chicken Little.

I wonder if they will release the movie in widescreen this time around, or stay with the current full-frame (open matte?) presentation.

DVD Talk Special Edition
While not being an ultra-fan of disney animation as an adult, I still have very fond memories of this film as a kid. Don't actually remember anything specific about the film, but I'd definitely be interested in picking up this dvd if it is presented respectfully this time around...hopefully it's as good as I remember.

-The Fox and the Hound was my favorite film as a child (I was born in 1980).
-This is also the first film that ever really moved me.
-Not only do I remember the book and read-along audio tape, but I also still have them!
-I've been wanting a special edition of this film ever since I first started buying DVDs. I'll be picking this one up on release day without a doubt.

So what is the problem exactly? Yes, The Black Cauldron should and WILL get the SE treatment however if you wish to look at the fact BC is widescreen and Fox is not then BC received better treatment then Fox. Fox dates BC by a couple of years so first come first serve in my opinion. By you using THIS referring to Fox and the Hound seems to reflect you are ripping the movie and that it is not deserving of the SE treatment. Fox and the Hound is very deserving of the SE treatment...no more no less then Black Cauldron. If you do not like Fox and the Hound or it is not one of your favorite movies, that is fine but there are many more people excited to see the news for Fox and the Hound.

Rob Paulsen
Patrick Swayze
