BOO!!!! I read in the advertisements in magazines like Entertainment Weekly that the commentary was supposed to be Waters and Lipsynka!

As for your disappointment with Waters' cattiness, all I can say is what did you expect? Roger Ebert on Dark City? I mean you've SEEN a John Waters movie, right?

For under ten bucks, how can you lose?

I expect a commentary from a camp legend to be both catty and informative. The fact the Waters was not familiar with Joan Crawford's movies is in itself disappointing. The fact that he has nothing at all to say about the Joan-Christina relationship (the subject of the film) beyond the fact that apparently his childhood was much worse is just appalling.

P.S. Lypsinka appears in the featurettes. (Does she ever!) But she doesn't have anything interesting to say either... Don't get your hopes up!(sigh)

As disappointed as I am with the overly "camp" and superficial treatment of "Mommie Dearest"'s lastest DVD edition, I admit to an unhealty fascination with stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYXME4JImMc
or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctEE7MXc7SU

Also see this site for a clearer picture (QuickTime): http://www.danoramaproductions.com/danorama.html and go to "The Club Room".

For those who wonder, this is what the REAL Joan Crawford looked like - and it's far scarier than anything Faye Dunaway can come up with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5goOPgau7Vs
