give me a Nolan Ryan set right now.

Since the Cubs don't have championships they could have had a dvd set with what happened in 1969, 1984 & 2003. Those heartbreaking seasons would have made a good set that only Cubs fans can be proud of.

I love the fact that these sets are coming out (I have taped every major sports championship since I got my first VCR in 1989, and cant get enough of classic games), although for the most part they are far out of my price range (I did splurge for the 100 buck on the credit card for the Red Sox 2004 World Series run because a., I live smack dab in the middle of Red Sox nation and b., when is that ever going to happen again.
One comment, though-from a true baseball fans perspective, wouldnt the Twins/Braves 91 World Series make a slightly more compelling set than the 87 Twins/Carnails series. Granted, that was the Twins first title, but in the 91 Series you have four games (games 3, 4, 6, and 7) that may be in the top 50 of baseball games played EVER! |

Which I certainly hope they do. While I don't really care too much about the two compilation sets announced, I am excited to see the full World Series sets. I'll be picking up the '77 set on release (it's only $41 pre-order through DVD Planet). I will probably pick up the '87 set eventually too, but when A&E has one of its killer sales (I got the Reds, Pirates, and Mets sets for under $25 apiece when they had their big sale last October). Being a Phillies fan, I am waiting most anxiously for a 1980 WS set (hopefully with the full NLCS included). Beyond that, I would love to see the '74 A's-Dodgers, '83 Cards-Brewers, '84 Tigers-Padres, '85 Royals-Cards, and '93 Blue Jays-Phils (as painful as that one was) World Series. And anything from 1973 and earlier would be a sure buy for me, although I'm not sure if the broadcasts of those WS are still in existence. |
