Couple more pieces that I still want to pick up, but starting to run out of room.

Shallow, how much did that cricket bat set you back and how rare are they? I would LOVE to have one, nay, I NEED to have one. If they are really rare and expensive...umm...could you just give me your address and the times you and your family are out of the home.

Where is everyone getting the Stay Puft Marshmellow man from? I have found them on Ebay, but would like to be able to pick one up locally if possible.

I got my Stay Puft from a comic shop, mispriced at $12 when if first came out. I've seen them at Suncoast for around $20 or $25, I can't remember which.

I love this thread.... I always love to see other people's setup. My primary goal when the wife and I move is to make a large space as a theatre. These threads make me wish I was moving already.

I just finished building Phase 3 of my DVD Shelf! Phase 1 was the main back part, Phase 2 was the base, which wasn't too much of a project, but absolutely necessary before the DOOR (Phase 3) could be attached. Here is a picture of it. I'm pretty proud of this piece of work. Of course Phase 4 will be the right side "door", but it may be a while before I get to that.

For a full look at my collection, the link is the same as I posted on Page 10 - namely:http://www.geocities.com/danwiz47/De...ollection.html

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Very nice job, Dan! Inspiring. Nice choice on the full strip hinge. Otherwise, you probably wouldn't have a straight door in another year with all the weight. You are putting on a second door though ... ?

BTW .. is that the Lone Wolf and Club sleeve that you have for the entire series that I see buried in there? I so missed out on that one and have regretted it ever since AnimEgo ran out.

DanWiz,
What are the specs to build a shelving unit like that. I'm pretty tired of my shelving set-up, and that is just a thing of beauty. How many will it hold when complete?

indeed looks very classy, i like it!
same question from my side, how many dvds will it eventually hold?
also, what were the material costs to built it?
i am also having crazy ideas of building my own "dvd home". i had the same design in mind, only that i would prefer it in black shiny piano paint.
also i always wanted glass shelves with two spotlights on the insight. however, i think the weight would probably be too much!

Thanks JCFantasy23! I bought that in 1996 from the Warner Store the same week that Curt Swan (the illustrator) passed away. It's something that I'll never get rid of. Did you see my Crisis on Infinite Earths giclee? If you follow the link to my gallery you'll see it.

Does anybody else think that having action figures and other memorabilia next to your DVD collection is really tacky?

I don't think so at all - I think it can greatly add to the immersion of a home theater area.

I've picked up several items over time based on these threads , like the Serenity R4 tin, Bob and Doug McKenzie action figures, etc - things I wouldn't know existed otherwise.

Of course, every person has their own preference for their little domain - a perfectly empty area (except for seating and audo/display devices) with a nearby closet containg the dvds might be one person's vision for theirs.

I would like to know your specs as well. That is awesome. I want to build something similar, although maybe not as tall as my collection is rather small, and I do not like the ones in the stores, especially for the price they want.

Yes. I also find it strange just how many people here seem to decorate their shelves with action figures. I suppose it's some collector aesthetic that I just don't understand. All of my action figures have been in boxes in my parents' basement for the last 15 years.

It can be, depends on the number, placement and just how nice the figures look. A lot of 6-inchers just doesn't do it for me either, but I've got 5 or 6 neca 18"ers that I don't think overdo it.
