13 Going On 30: Fun and Flirty mastering/interlacing errors?
[This is my first post here so I hope this is OK to ask -- mods please move if wrong, I searched a bit and this seemed ok]
I just picked up the "Fun and Flirty" edition of 13 Going On 30 today. Ok, so it's not masterpiece cinema, but it seems like Sony has done a HORRIBLE job mastering it. The video on all of my DVD players (through component video connections but not progressive) looks like it has been horribly interlaced -- I am seeing horizontal tearing through the whole movie. The bonus features, ads, FBI warnings, etc, don't show that at all so I am pretty certain it's a botched master and nothing to do with the disc or my players. It seems better towards the end of the movie but not perfect. It looks OK when played on my computer, which would be the equivalent of progressive scan. Given it's an interlacing artifact and not blockiness/stuttering/broken audio it seems hard to believe it'd be a bad disc. I could try to get a new one but I'm not sure if that would help. I re-checked "Into The Blue" (closest comparison I could get my hands on: a recent Sony pictures "Mastered in High Definition" on the back, as 13 Going On.. had) and it looks fine. Has anyone else seen this? How does one go about trying to get a studio's attention about a problem of this type? (if indeed someone can confirm this is an issue) Thanks for any help! |
I'm waiting on my review copy of 13 Going on 30: Fun and Flirty Edition to arrive ... I'll post my review in a couple days. I'll be sure to carefully examine the image.
