 Want both of these too. I unwittingly bought Miami Blues not knowing it was non-anamorphic, and Thief has a horrible transfer IMO.

I'm hoping Criterion will put out a Hellman Western set with this, The Shooting and the already confirmed Ride the Whirlwind.

Sessa17 11-18-08 05:48 PM

Serie Noire which is the best adaptation EVER of a Jim Thompson novel.

The Nickel Ride

The Outfit - How the hell is this thing not on DVD. Robert Duvall, Karen Black, Joe Don Baker.

I'm sure at least Serie Noire probably has a French release, but I need Region 1 releases.

I don't feel like going through this thread to see how many times The Wonder Years has been mentioned (or if I've already mentioned it in this thread myself), but there ya go.

Polanski's Repulsion, Cul de Sac, and What?
How about Freddie Francis' "Girly", rightly considered one of his best films.

nightmaster 11-22-08 06:10 PM

The Keep

This thing seems to keep getting announced with a release date only to be either rescheduled or pulled from online selling sites....... c'mon already, I'm not gettin' any younger.

I'd also like to know, why is it so many unreleased to DVD movies made their way to VHS so easily? There either weren't legal issues then, or they were resolved in some way so the movies could be released.....

There is a R1 release of this, albeit a dreadful one. I'm hoping the film will be part of Sony's upcoming Collectors Series.

For those of us who want the original cinema cut, it's even worse. I have the Region 2, which is the original cut, and it's one of the worse DVDs I've ever seen. I hate to say that. From what I remember of an interview with Mann around the time of the R1 release of Mohicans, Thief will need a major restoration.

Re: What Are You STILL Waiting For?!?!

2009 and time to revisit my wants and the last we've seen of them:

Dharma & Greg: Season 1 (released 6/06)
Mad About You: Season 3 (released 2/07)
NYPD:Blue: Season 4 (released 6/06)
DuckTales: Vol. 3 (released 11/07)
Muppet Show: Season 3 (released 5/08)

Can't get enough TV on DVD and would love to see some more released from these shows. Not looking pretty though rolling into 3 year breaks for a couple of them. Looks like region 2 saw a season 2 release of Dharma & Greg, where's ours?

This was my list last year. :D

This year it's:

- Fraggle Rock Season 4 (without having to re-purchase 1-3)
currently no plans :(

- The Muppet Show Season 4 & 5
S3 was May 2008 ... I wish they'd announce the last two, with less of a delay between seasons than what we've been seeing

There's a few of those older WB snappers that need WS editions, Fearless is another.

I have been wanting a Special Edition of that movie for a very long time. May be my favorite movie ever.
