(pre-book January 10, 2007). Eddie Murphy Delirious changed the face of stand-up comedy and influenced some of todayıs most popular cutting edge in-your-face comics including Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. The year was 1983 and NOTHING was sacred! Jokes about puberty, dating, Mr. T, disciplinarian mothers, and the personality traits of Michael Jackson were all fair game when the man in the red leather suit took the stage! Eddie Murphy Delirious arrives on DVD boasting brand-new special features including an Eddie Murphy Interview hosted by Byron Allen and ten minutes of never-before-seen footage. We are proud to distribute this very special DVD along with Starz Home Entertainment, says Byron Allen, chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios. I have known Eddie for more than 25 years and have enjoyed collaborating with him on the special features and other aspects of this incredibly popular and highly-anticipated DVD. This is a tremendous property to distribute under the Starz Home Entertainment label, stated Bill Clark, executive vice president and general manager of Starz Home Entertainment. By capitalizing on our retail relationships, and utilizing Mr. Allenıs great celebrity contacts as well as his expertise in the comedy arena, we are confident that Delirious will be a leading release in the first quarter of 2007. Entertainment Studios Home Entertainment and Starz Home Entertainment will support the DVD release of Eddie Murphy Delirious with a comprehensive marketing campaign reaching millions of consumers including advertising on Entertainment Studios network of TV shows reaching 30 million consumers per week. Eddie Murphy Delirious is classic Eddie Murphy at his best and shows why he is the ORIGINAL KING OF COMEDY! Taped live and in concert at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. in August 1983, the stand-up special originally aired on a then-fledgling cable network called HBO. Eddie Murphy Delirious will be released just after the anticipated theatrical release of Dreamgirls starring Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles and Danny Glover on December 25, 2006. Murphy is also starring in the feature film Norbit with Thandie Newton (Crash) and Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), which will open on February 9, 2007 and was written by Charlie Murphy. So is this going to be unedited or not? I don't see anywhere touting this on that press release, so that has me a bit concerned.

Does this mean that Eddie might be making a change back to his old ways? Maybe Beverly Hills Cop IV will be like the first couple.
|
I liked Raw better than Delirious, but I'm going to picking this up.

Was his 1982 concert that was on CD ever filmed? It was just as funny as "Delirious".

I just saw the news. I didn't think it was ever going to get released. I'll be buying a copy for sure. I have the audio tape, best of Eddie Murphy CD, and the video from the original HBO airing.
I wouldn't want to be politically incorrect so I won't quote any great lines but I would be lying if I said the routine isn't great. Do yourself a favor and throw the PC BS out the window for the night and pick up a copy. You'll laugh your ......we'll you know. Anyone with a good sense of humor will agree. |
Anchor Bay is re-releasing this set as a 2-disc 25th Anniversary Edition DVD on September 16th. Amazon.com has the listing with cover art but no specs yet.

Two discs? I wonder what they could include as extras. That Byron Allen interview mentioned on page 2 of this thread doesn't look particularly promising - that guy is about as bland and inoffensive as Greg Gumbel.

The Amazon listing only says one disc?
|
I'm praying for a "You is on the Welfare!" Edition.
Murphy's Clint Eastwood imitation in this is golden, as is the whole damn thing. |
Did Anchor Bay release this? Amazon has a listing but it seems that it wasn't released.
