King Kong (1933) 2 Disc vs Collection

I got this today at Best Buy for $15.99 and noticed that they had the collection which has what I have plus Son Of Kong and Mighty Joe Young. Do you think the other movies are worth it? I haven't opened it yet and might take it back tomorrow and get the collection.

I think Son of Kong is a terrible movie. I haven't watched Mighty Joe Young yet. I know I saw it when I was a kid about 30 years ago and have vague feelings that I liked it. Hope that helps some.

I've heard that Son Of Kong was kinda bad as well. I guess I'll rent it from Netflix to see if it's worth the extra $28 (approx) for the other 2 movies and reproductions (which I don't care about). Thanks for the help

Son of Kong is atrocious, and I think it's only 65 minutes to boot. Mighty Joe Young is actually quite good, but is it worth the extra money to buy all three in a box? I don't think so, since the actual box is all you get extra. You might want to buy the Mighty Joe Young disc separately. All three movies are available that way.

By the way, to anyone else thinking about buying the 1933 King Kong 2 disc, Circuit City has it for $13.99 this week.

I'd also look at Target this week for King Kong - $9.44.

Glad I didn't buy it. I had it in my hands and was in the cd section when I turned around and just got the 2 disc version. Thanks to all

Looks like the 1 disc that comes out tomorrow and not the 2 disc one that is out now.

I thought Mighty Joe Young was great- very funny movie! Son of Kong was a moneygrab but worth a single viewing.

If that's right, then keep the two-disc SE for $15.99. Not shabby.

hey guys, haven't seen this posted anywhere, but i was at Borders tonight, and they just put these SAME EXACT SETS out in the New Releases section, with a "sale price" of $39.99. this is the same exact box set that was the Best Buy exclusive a few months back, which is supposed to be OOP. the back even has the same "Best Buy Bonus" listing on the back of the box. so much for the "exclusive" moniker on that monkey.
