Criterion Dazed and Confused in the works!

Check out the link below. Harry Knowles reports that Richard Linklater personally confirmed he is working on a CC edition of Dazed and Confused.

This was mentioned back in september on the criterionforum.org forum and on this site, after the Universal re-release turned out to be a dud.

No. It was news when the rumors first broke a year and a half ago, and when I got the exact same confirmation, with more details, from Linklater way back in September. I'd say that by now, this is far from "news."

This has been <s>on Criterion's site</s> news for a while now.

Yes, I'm aware of the older thread :) Just saying that one person's confirmation of a rumor from a year ago doesn't necessarily mean everyone else is aware, even Harry Knowles and Aint It Cool News. So of course Harry would post it as news.

So of course Harry would post it as news.
If you actually read Harry's post (which is, admittedly, no easy task) you would see that he talks about speaking with Linklater, mentions a few things on Linklater's plate like "A Scanner Darkly", "Fast Food Nation" an dthe "D&C" Criterion, and then goes on to reveal the actual news item:

"This is kinda funny, it's sort of an Austin project, he's in Bristol making a stop motion animated feature film adaptation of GILBERT SHELTON'S FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHERS."
That's what he was actually reporting on, and the Linklater content is just a "bonus", it's not as if you could go to Aint It Cool News and see a headline proclaiming "BREAKING NEWS: CRITERION DAZED AND CONFUSED DISC JUST ANNOUNCED!"

I read the interview where Linklater talked about how disappointed he was with the recent rerelease (which I bought for about 10 bucks). This is my favorite high school movie of all time, I'm definitely getting it and was unaware the CC version was coming out. Thanks for the tip, OP!

Edit: I just noticed that the CC version of "Kind Hearts and Coronets", "Metropolitan", "Au Revoir Les Enfants" and "Murmurs of the Heart" are all coming soon. Goddamnit, I've got to get ALL of those.

I bet its coming in July, a little bird told me.

And I'm just saying that just because Harry posts something as news doesn't necessarily mean it's news. ;) Either way, this already had it's own thread, and hardly needed another (especially when there have been no real updates beyond what we've known for months).
