Where's Monty?

This is one more for the directors of the main site than anyone else but, as a total newbie, I have to ask why something on Monty Python can't be found on searching either the main site or the forums - I'm excluding talk on 'new' versions of "Holy Grail" in the forums, I mean the originals (series or movies).

I realise I'm an old man and remember them in their prime but there were one or two people born after Graham Chapman died who might just be interested in finding out what other people thought of them.

I just ran a search of this specific forum for "python" and got hits including:

"Monty Python: 16 Ton Megaset ?"
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...ghlight=python

"Monty Python and the Holy Grail - edition differences?"
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...ghlight=python

If you want to talk more about MPFC itself, you might try the TV Talk forum here, as wells as the forums over at http://www.bbc.co.uk and/or www.bbcamerica.com.

Tamerlaine, I'm not sure what happened on your end, but I just did a search for "Monty Python" in the Review search right above, and 10 results came back. A similar search in the forum brought back 46 separate threads.

OK, you got me. I did a search for "Monty Python & the Holy Grail" (exact characters, inc. spaces , no quotes) and, basically, all I got was, as I said, a thread discussing possible differences on versions (I didn't even know there were different versions!).

Did your results bring a review of this film (and, BTW, "Life Of Brian"( original ed.?)?

As I said in my other reply, I didn't even know there were varying editions so what I was looking for was a review of the 'original' MP&HG on the main site and was absolutely stunned that the search engine couldn't come up with an exact match.

To get a similar reult on the forums was more than I could bear (keep in mind I stumbled across DVD Talk and am a total novice).

Please note that I am not complaining, merely making an observation.

Um, yes:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=2824 (Holy Grail review 1)

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=7652 (Holy Grail review 2)

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=248 (Brian review 1)

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=15 (Brian review 2)

I would recommend you keep your searches more generic in the future (i.e., look for "Python" instead of "Monty Python & the Holy Grail"). The search feature will work better, and in case the reviewer writes the name of the movie differently than how you normally type it, it will probably still show up. There is much love for Monty Python here, don't worry.
