Wow. It's actually happening?

And yeah, at this point I'm only interested in a Blu-Ray. Figures.

Thanks, I don't have enough posts to post URLs.

 that a special edition is finally coming
 that studios are still giving their special editions stupid names

Glad it's finally coming

"Impactful O-Sleeve" ???

shyguy1083 12-25-08 05:09 PM

cheers to a 2-disc finally being released R1

jeers to the ridiculous "big wave edition" designation

and i know o-sleeve is industry lingo and all, but it seems like it would make much more sense to just call it a slipcover, especially since it's not an O at all

I sold my original copy in October 2003 waiting for this thing to come out. Animated features are about the only movies I bother to watch the extras for anymore.

Now they are finally releasing it, right after I got a Blu-ray player for Christmas. Suddenly the though of a traditionally animated movie in HD seems worth waiting for.

Sigh.

So anyone pick this up? How are the extras? Really can't believe this is out now in 2009.

The new 2-disc set drops some of the extras off the old dvd.

From this review:

Does this “Big Wave Edition” omit anything from the prior DVD? Yup – it omits a few featurettes. Also, the old disc’s “Deleted Scenes” included some intros from the directors that fail to reappear here. I don’t know why the new disc cut those, and it’s too bad the other snippets didn’t reappear; some may’ve been redundant when combined with this DVD’s extras, but I still think reissues should provide all the old material, even when the stuff may seem repetitive.

^this is why I don't understand why people sell off their old set until the new one gets released... especially when you like having extras. It never fails that they drop some good ones only to be replaced by something really lame like a game or remixed song.

Sounds kind of meh to me. The two disc R4 version I have has a pretty massive documentary type special on the second disc...I really can't recall how long it is but I couldn't finish watching it.
