Although i love this film, this re-re-release has to be another unecessary double dip by Sony. Where the hell is the Dracula SE?!!!

The Digital Bits reported that an SE of Dracula was in the works. The only problem is that was about 3 years ago...

Shhh, it's only a model.
I have the "collector's edition" already, so no need to snag thsi one unless there's something else added (can't see it happening).

My guess: it will have all the same content from before, perhaps the fixed subtitle at the beginning, and some new featurette/ad for the Broadway show. That is all.
Of course, to add to the list of things Sony needs to fix/re-do, I would offer up Annie in widescreen (without random zooming). And as for Dracula, doesn't American Zoetrope have most of the control over that?

1. There is NO WAY to tell if you have the zoomed or corrected edition, other than watching the disc. There's nothing printed on the cover or the disc itself to indicate a fix. You'd have to either check the offending scenes or look at the dates of the files on the disc.
2. The widescreen edition went OOP shortly after the corrected copy was available. It's hard to track down the WS in general, but it's made all the more difficult since only a small percentage of them are corrected.
Why they went pan & scan for the deluxe edition is something I'll never fully understand.

I'm speechless. I was getting there with the Non-Superbit re-re-re-release of Mask of Zorro, but now I'm baffled. Next they will re-release Spider-Man ... again ... for the 273rd time.
There's a lenticular cover Special Edition of MP&THG. Then there is a book version with a film cell. What next, a DVD case in the shape of a holy handgrenade? ...
Why must such things be thought? It'll never happen.

Well that clinches it!!! How can I live without the new Spamalot musical featurette??? Seriously though, I think I'll just pick up the 2 disc now that it's getting cheaper.

I got a couple copies of the Special Edition when they were selling at Best Buy for $8 a couple weeks ago. Both were presents, but one of the presents was a double-dip for me.

What's wrong with the subtitles on the curent edition? They seem exactly the same as the old Criterion lasrerdisc. You're referring to the cod-Swedish moose stuff over the opening credits, right? Was that different theatrically?
