WWE DVD Release Dates

DVD Talk Special Edition
That is not the correct match listing for the 4th disc.
From Highspots but this was listed when the set was due in April of 2006.
"This is the potential match listing for this special FOUR (4) DVD set. Final listing could change before release."
This is the correct match listing for the 4th disc but I think it may only be for the Walmart exclusive:
The 4th disc includes additional matches and one interview:
Madison Square Garden 3/24/80
Fabulous Hulk Hogan (with Freddie Blassie) vs. Tito Santana
Hulk Hogan (with Johnny Valiant) vs. Sonny Rogers & Chuck Greenly AWA 8/8/81
Saturday Night’s Main Event 1/4/86
WWE Championship Match
vs. Terry Funk
Saturday Night’s Main Event 3/12/88
vs. ‘King’ Harley Race
Hulk Hogan Wins the 1990 Royal Rumble (13:53)
SummerSlam 8/27/90
vs. Earthquake
WWE RAW HomeComing 10/3/05
Gene Okerlund Interviews Hulk Hogan
I hope I am wrong and the one from Shopzone has this disc but it is confusing from the way they have it listed.

The documentary was really good when you got passed the first 15-20 minutes. No offense, but I generally get bored while hearing about a wrestler's childhood. I'm sort of impatient and want to get to the "good stuff."..lol
The documentary runs just over 90 minutes which left a lot of room for extra matches on the first disc. You got some really good comments during the documentary from Mick Foley, Steve Austin, Jim Ross, Ricky Steamboat, Eric Bischoff and many others. I was surprised they didn't get any comments from Bret Hart.
There was a spot on the dvd where J.R. was talking about how the Hollywood Blondes tag team were getting over with the fans and a political decision was made to disband the team. He said the decision was made because someone (I'm assuming Kevin Sullivan?) was booking that also was an active wrestler at the time. J.R. then goes on to say that any time someone is involved with booking and is an active wrestler that it's always a recipe for disaster. I chuckled when I heard him say that because he really should have ended his statement with "unless you're Triple H."...lol
Anyway...some people who have more of an insiders perspective on Pillman's life and career would be able to weigh in better than I can on how factual everything is on documentary portion of the dvd. From my perspective, they did a good job though.
The best part of this dvd is the bonus matches though. WWE delivered the goods here. I only wish they had included one of Pillman's matches against Tom Zenk, but they packed this 2 disc set up tight, so I'm not complaining.
I had forgotton that Pillman was in a tag team called Bad Company with Bruce Hart, but if I'm not mistaken, didn't Paul Diamond and Pat Tanaka have a tag team by the same name?
Anyway...if anyone is on the fence on getting this, then I'd recommend that you do. The old matches themselves are what sell me on these dvd's. The documentaries are just icing on the cake.

I kept having flashbacks of Diamond/Tanaka as well watching that part of the DVD. I wish the Z-Man match was on there as well. The only match I really wanted, but wasn't on it was the Brad Armstrong/Pillman I believe 2 of 3 falls match. For some reason I remember this being really, really good.

I didn't see this listed here, but i just noticed that there's a new title coming out 11/21/06 called: WWE: Spectacular Legacy of the AWA. According to Amazon it will be a 2 disk set. Not much info i could find besides that.

The Pillman DVD was different than I expected. I was and remain very dissappointed in the ECW coverage. His promos there were every bit as good as any Foley cut with ECW and are ridiculously influential. He was the first "cool" heel of the Attitude/nWo era, a vibe that Austin, the Rock, the NWO, DX, Shane Douglas, et al, tried to make their own.
But I can't call it a disappointment, because it lent a great perspective as to how Pillman may have driven himself to the grave given the obstacles he faced in life.
Their best DVD since the Jake Roberts offering, and easily in their top 5 of all time. Easy to do though, considering the source material. Definately worth a buy.

WWE is releasing a DVD called "The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA" which according to WrestlingObserver.com has recently been completed. The DVD will feature a 45 minute documentary focusing on Verge Gagne, the later years with Hulk Hogan getting his start, the Superclash shows, etc. -- Verne was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame -- along with commentary from Jim Brunzell, Michael Hayes, Baron Von Raschke, Greg Gagne, Eric Bischoff and Nick Bockwinkel.
Here is the match listing, according to WrestlingObserver.com:

That's a 1 hour and 45 minute documentary. It's amazing how when people take stuff for their sites, they misquote what is actually reported.
If it was posted at wrestlingobserver.com, why give cfredit to some losers site that butchered the original report?

WWE SWITCHES CLASSIC MATCHES FOR 'HOGAN KNOWS BEST'
by Greg Sims @ 8:37:00 PM on 10/2/2006
Thanks to Greg Sims for the following. ... Just wanted to let you know about a WWE Shopzone BIG GOOF. I was browsing the WWE site back on 9/22 and noticed their pre-order offer for the Hogan Anthology. Their preorder included a shirt, bandana, and EXCLUSIVE bonus disc. The WWE Shopzone site described the disc with the following matches/content:
vs. Tito Santana
Madison Square Garden - 24/03/80
vs. Sonny Rogers & Chuck Greenly
AWA - 08/08/81
WWE Championship Match
vs. Terry Funk
Saturday Night's Main Event - 04/01/86
vs. King Harley Race
Saturday Night's Main Event - 12/03/88
Hulk Hogan Wins the 1990 Royal Rumble
vs. Earthquake
Summerslam - 27/08/90
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan
WWE Raw Homecoming - 03/10/05
From reading your site, I knew that the UK was getting this disc in their packages and WalMart would have this disc here in the states. Being the Hogan mark that I am, I thought it was a great deal and a great exclusive.
Then, this weekend I checked out the package and WWE SWITCHED the bonus exclusive disc without warning or explanation for the following:
The Hogan Knows Best Bonus Disc includes:
Season 1
WrestleMania
Hulk Hogan's family watches as he is inducted into the hall of fame and performs at WrestleMania 21. Will Hogan be bitten by the wrestling Bug once again?
Season 2
Monkey Business
Linda brings a mischievous monkey into the Home without Hogan's permission. When he tries to live in peace With the primate, it proves quite hard to handle.
Season 3
Hogan Knows Best: Special Sneak Peek
Hogan hangs up his wrestling boots and moves The family to Miami Beach to launch a new Grill, a cool energy drink and most importantly Brooke's singing career. How will the family Adjust to their new surroundings?
Very crappy of them to do. I have cancelled my pre-order and plan to buy this now at my friendly neighborhood WalMart.
