The Last Dragon Aspect Problem

I recently purchased The Last Dragon during the DDD sale and received it earlier this week. I began to watch it early today and to my surprise the video is in fullscreen and not widescreen. The cover is different than the one advertised on the site but the back cover says that it is suppose to be widescreen. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem with this movie and whateps should I take to secure a widescreen version?

Thats intresting, I have the disc and my copy is widescreen, I checked dvdempire and they claim it is fullscreen I wonder if they released a full screen copy.

Well the copy i received from DDD had a different cover than the one i have seen in stores. It has Berry Gordy on it with a Black background. But like i said the dvd back cover says it's widescreen but it plays fullscreen. I don't know what to do.

must be one of those Sony downgrading their widescreen titles to fullscreen only when it hit the bargain bin. And they are nortorious for not changing the listing on the jacket.

For some odd reason the studios change the formats from widescreen to fullscreen and then release them as bargains as if the whole world is going to eat em up. It amazes me that they think theyre saving money by doing this. I see shitloads of those movies in fullscreen at the Wal-Mart bin and some of them have been there for a very long time. Theyve done this with High School High, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and countless other titles.

You can also have a downgrade occur when a title that had two discs is changed to a single disc, with the disc containing the OAR/widescreen presentation being removed. IIRC, this is what happened with Shrek. The disc with the widescreen was removed.

You know what's odd? As Good As It Gets lost a side and it was the full screen side. There's another one like this, but I can't think of which one it is. I guess it depends on the movie. I was contemplating buy As Good As It Gets and returning my old one with the new receipt as it has the same UPC and I have absolutely no need for the full screen side of the movie.
