The Sopranos Boxsets - a question for owners of R1 editions

hi there,

I'm from Australia and have the R4 boxsets of the Sopranos. However, I'm getting the impression after re-viewing them on my new tv that they are NTSC-PAL conversions and not based off HD as they should be.

One way to check this would be to see if PAL speedup has been applied. To help me do this could someone who has Sopranos seasons 2-5 in R1 format please post episode times for the first two episodes in each of those series ? I'll compare them to my r4 times and if they're the same, it'll confirm my suspicions.

It'd be greatly appreciated, I've looked at many websites but there's conflicting info about what the actual runtimes are. Someone who actually has the discs will be able to give a definitive answer.

I have s1-s4 and if I have time later today, I wil do this for you.

that'd be great, thanks a lot.

If someone who has season 5 could also do the same, that'd be awesome.

The r1 sets are expensive, I need to make sure I'll be getting something beter thanwhat I already have.

thanks al tahoe, much much appreciated.

Confirmed my suspicions, the newly released s5 (r4) which has a lot of aliasing, has the same runtimes while the previous seasons all have episodes that are two minutes shorter (meaning the PAL speedup is there).

Why Warners have shafted us with an inexplicable ntsc-pal transfer is bizarre.

I was just about to start working on compiling this info. Thanks, Al.
