Will Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974 original) ever be rereleased?

I never picked this one up and now i regret it. Its not at any stores near me and i cant find it online. I would prefer to avoid ebay because i dont realy liked used dvds. Is there any plans for a new edition or a rerelease?

It's available at every Wal-Mart and Best Buy near me.

I bought mine at Wal-Mart long ago...

I think it is out-of-print, but it's not that scarce. I found a copy in the $5.50 bin at my local Wal-Mart not that long ago. Unfortunately, I didn't buy it, and when I went back it was gone. I ended up picking up a used copy at Suncoast for $9.99. I do wish it was anamorphic, though.

I may have to check my local Best Buy's for this. Never got around to picking it up when it came out and now I'm kicking myself.

DVDAF has every Region 1 version out-of-print on this. I'm surprised by that fact honestly. I would suspect that there will be another re-release of it when the prequel comes out next year.

Yes, i seem to remember Don May Jr of Synapse saying a while back that they had been asked to produce a new transfer etc.....seems everything has all gone quiet so maybe they are looking to present it on HD-DVD etc in the future

I also remember seeing something mentioned about a high definition release on this one. It would be strange (and may even take away from the feel of the movie) to see: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in High Definition.
