They're probably repackages of the Five Star editions, this time in digipacks with spine numbers.

I'll probably use this opportunity to get The French Connection.

Yes, if Fox follows suit with what they've been doing, the disc contents will be exactly the same as the Five Star releases.

The good thing is these are priced better than the other Fox 2-disc CE's.

I just hope these come in a 2-disc slim amaray case with a slipcover instead of a digipak. Their last 3 or 4 titles have not been in digipaks.

I don't. I'd actually re-buy several for the smaller cases.

Not sure what this is, but I don't know what more Fox can do with Speed on dvd. The 2-disc dvd is excellent and I am happy with it. If they can improve a few things or 2 and or make some things better, I am all for it. But.....I just don't know how much more it can be improved if you ask me. Just my 2 cents.

? smaller cases ? The two-disc digipacks are the same exact size as single-disc Amarays. I like the digipacks better because of the nicer presentation with extra art and stuff.

The digipacks are flimsy. I would prefer a regular amaray case. I don't need fancy artwork. It's a DVD. Not a display case.

I guess since I don't abuse and throw my dvd cases around, "flimsyness" has never been an issue.

Umm..neither do i. They always stay in as mint condition as possible. But obviously edges can get frayed just from being taken in and out of the shelf.

Count me in for digipaks, I like the additional art, for example, Fight Club, The Thing and Abyss.

I have 40-year old album-sleeves, which are far more flimsy than a dvd-digipack, that get taken in and out of their shelves all the time and they're just fine - I don't see how dvds would be any different - My Fight Club dvd for example is a digipack, and I've had it sicne '99, and it is absolutely mint even though I've taken it out MANY times over the years.

I'm not really for or against digipaks, but I will say the original Fight Club digipak seems to bemade of sturdier material thanb most others, especially when compared to the current Fight Club digipak, which mimicks the earlier design but seems to be made of different material.

Conversely, my Se7en Platinum Series digipak looks kind of beat up even though I rarely handle it. Guess it depends on the release.

Just received an email from an online aqqaintince who "Claims" this is the artwork for Speed and TFC, he said there will be a 3rd collector's edition title released along with these in feb, but he won't say or send artwork because it hasn't been annouced yet.

I cannot confirm this to be the art. Someone sent it to me, and that is that.
I don't even know that guy that well, figured I would share though.
Not bad art though, Wish speed was unaltered and was just the original one sheet.

The French Connnection looks OK I guess, but that Speed artwork looks like ass. Looks like the bus is coming out of his ear.

They look like weak attempts at Criterionesque artsy-ness, only without the class, elegance and style. Also, why is SPEED an "all-access" collector's edition but not THE FRENCH CONNECTION? Both were fully loaded Five Star Collection releases. I'm sure these covers are real though. They're too tacky not to be real (although, to be fair, TFC's cover has some nice early '70s energy to it.)

And yeah, Keanu is suffering from a serious case of inflamed buscheek.

Well, how about slimmer packaging? That's probably what this is.

Good point, just slimmed down. Anyway, that artwork for Speed is really bad. I am gonna stick with the 2-disc 5 star edition.

For slimmer packaging, I'll probably pick it up as long as they keep all the same features. I need to save all the space i can.

They are both presented like the other fox AWARDS EDITIONS, 2 disc keep case with slipcover. I've seen lots of copies in my area.
