Noob Box Set TV Collection Question

Now, I have been buying TV Show Season Sets for a while, and still want to, but when I see some reviews, some people wont buy a certain set because it has syndicated cuts.

What does syndicated cuts mean exactly?

It means the episode has been cut to a shorter version for syndication, to make room for more commercials. The cuts can range from barely noticeable to significant. In some cases, the music is changed because of rights issues and they use the syndicated cuts on DVD for that reason.

A tv show has a couple lifecycles:
first-run, when it's 'new'.
then later on, it becomes 'syndicated' which basically means reruns [and it can be shown on different channels, etc, depending on who buys the rights.]
Anyway, sometimes when shows are bought for syndication, they are slightly edited, either for content or for time or both, in order to show more commercials.
So the syndicated cut episodes are as you'd see them as a 'rerun', not as they were originally run.
Basically you're getting an 'edited' version of the program; the edits are due to various reasons, and different things may be cut, but you're not getting it as it 'originally' aired, way back when.

Oh I see, is it really that big of a deal though? Like, say for instance with Married.. With Children?

It depends on who you ask. Some people don't care... some do.

I care. If I'm paying for a show on dvd then it should be sold to me in its original form. Sometimes it is only a minute or two that is lost but who are they to decide what minute or two should never be seen again?

If the cuts are significant, it matters. An example would be the Beavis & Butthead set that came out Tuesday - lots of cuts made for apparently no reason. Most shows I can't tell the difference, so I'm not too much help...

It's a big deal if you care about seeing episodes in their entirety.

Roseanne S1 is like that, and I guess Roseanne herself put her foot down to make sure it doesn't happen in any future sets. It doesn't really bother me.
