Anybody access DVDfile recently (be careful if you do!)

I just tried my bookmark for DVDfile, and I was greeted by some very intimate, fluid filled photos. Refresh out to yahoo, search for DVDfile, click on first hit, and more fluids. Just now, I get a "site temporarily down"

Did they get hijacked?

lotsofdvds 11-09-05 06:54 PM

Could you describe the fluids sir?

TomOpus 11-09-05 07:11 PM

It doesn't even load for me...

hehe... I said "load"

I normally wouldn't mind sharing, but the site was in French, and I'm honestly not sure of the "legality" of the persons involved.

weird...I was getting something the other day, using Firefox, where when I went to a page, it said 'You are not allowed to access this resource' or something like that. Worked in IE, though.

Down for maintenance...

mlemmond 11-10-05 06:11 AM

I got banned awhile back so I haven't bothered with them I much prefer dvdinmypants.com.

reverie 11-10-05 07:49 AM

I stopped going there regularly awhile back.. not as up to date as this place is, and maybe it's just my impression, but they seem a little elitist there. I'll still go there once in awhile when I get bored here at work. I just checked, and yep, down for maintenance still.

matome 11-10-05 07:53 AM

I haven't been there since Peter left.

I used to visit every single day. Then about a year ago they had an entire month go by without a single update, and I never went back. It went from being my favorite DVD site, to one that I never visit, ever.

tonyc3742 11-10-05 11:25 AM

It's still on my bookmarks list, but i don't go there real often. The articles/news don't update much, and it's not real 'intuitive' [for me] to navigate. I basically go to enter the contests : )

I used to love DVDFile, but then nothing happened for a LONG time and Peter left, that was it for me.

They had actually been updating there for awhile, and I would drop by once a week just to see if I missed any news. And they've been posting new reviews too, and I like to read many viewpoints for reviews.

Anyone check today? I'm at work right now, and I'm afraid to try.

Toben 11-10-05 01:39 PM

I actually accessed dvdfile yesterday during the day, and the site was fine. In the evening all I got was a 'down for maintenance' message. I'm not chancing it now. The last thing I need is smut on my work computer.

Your not alone. Besides why go there when we have this wonderful site right here.

Groucho 11-10-05 02:10 PM

I stopped going there when they started reporting silly rumors as legitmate news items.

True for me as well, but in addition I'm at a point where 95% of the movies I had been waiting for are finally out on DVD now. It used to be I would anxiously read announcements, checking off titles that were finally hitting DVD. But my "wishlist" is pretty small now, so I don't do daily release news checks anymore.

Where is Peter now? I miss his columns and reviews.

He seemed to have disappeared right about when they stopped updating. I always got the impression Peter found something new to do, and basically left the site in a lurch. It took the rest of the staff a little while to get rolling again, but I think they're doing okay.

was he the hot one? i think so.

Peter just published a book, "Crystal Lake Memoirs". It's a very in depth look at the entire Friday the 13th series. This is probably one of the reasons he left the site, I know he was hard at work on this book for quite a while.

kar10 11-10-05 05:40 PM

Who is Peter?

I miss their numerous errors in the "rush to be first!" days from the Peter era.
