I don't think we'll be seeing a Logan's Run re-release untill the remake hits theaters in 2007.

Road Warrior is out of print. Any idea if its because they are going to release a newer version?

Thanks!

Maybe it's a legal issue:

George Miller was slated to direct Contact until Warner Bros. offered him the rights to Mad Max 2 (1981) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) to pull out and let Robert Zemeckis take his place.
From imdb.com

Miller owns the rights to both films now. Could be he's holding out for a better deal or something.

Will we ever get the uncut version of Road Warrior? It was supposedly heavily edited by the Australian censors befor release. And then a further few scant seconds were deleted from the R rated U.S. version to avoid an X rating.

Very eeenteresting. Does anyone know what was cut out?

I'd definitely do a "happy dance" if one or both of these came out in an SE.

Mad Max 2 is my favorite 80s film.

I read about this months ago on the the mobius forum www.mhvf.net. I was banned from the site a couple years ago,so I'm unable to use the search feature and so forth.

But it was pretty interesting. Someone mentioned details of the opening scene showing Max drive past a farm where the mohawk guy and his gang are.....shows the family dead. Then they go after Max..where it jumps into where the current film begins.

Some more graphic footage was mentioned for the arrow pulling out the arm sequence, the boomer rang scene...and supposedly the couple having sex under the tent(which is pulled away durring the chase) is sped up in the R version..but at normal speed in the uncut version.

I don't know how much of this is true, but it is interesting to hear about.

Warner (in the HTF) said Road Warrior SE being Worked on :D

FRwL 02-21-06 07:32 PM

Hope it will have the Mad Max 2 title if they'll have "Road Warrior" on there too.

About time.

Fucking great news!

woohoo!

I hope they have both Miller and Gibson's participation in this. Given Warner's recent history, I'm very much looking forward to this one!

The Digital Bits is reporting that HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions of The Road Warrior will be released on 5/8.

Source: My Two Cents - 3/14 (4th para from the bottom)

I searched the internet and found this multi-tile release scheduled for 5/22 on the Warner site: Road Warrior/Beyond Thunderdome Double Feature. Not too many details. I wonder if this release will have new transfers.

Still no word about any Special Editions though. Has anyone heard anything?

Cameron 03-18-07 11:58 AM

hope that double feature disc has some new stuff.

matome 03-18-07 04:00 PM

The upcoming 5/8 Blu-Ray/HD-DVD will have an exclusive to the format commentary track with the Director and Cinematographer, but that's it for new extras for them, other than a Leonard Maltin intro.

Tenacious D 03-19-07 08:35 AM

Well that sucks. Where's the Road Warrior SE?

mxv 03-19-07 10:54 AM

I too have been holding out buying the current ones in hopes of a special edition like they did for the first Mad Max.

That Leonard Maltin intro is probably carried over from the Special Edition VHS that came out just before the DVD age. Disappointing, but didn't the recent Warner Bros chat say something about a Road Warrior: SE?

They mentioned it in the recent Warner chat and the one from a year ago, if I recall. This, the Poltergeist SE, Twilight Zone: The Movie, and the Blade Runner set are probably my 4 most wanted from Warner Home Video and they all seem to be taking forever.

Personally, I always thought that Thunderdome was an underrated film. If anyone ever ponies up features and a few interviews for this, I'm there.

LoPan5705 05-22-07 12:55 PM

I saw this Double Feature disc out today and unfortunately it's just the same material from the previous dvds. To make matter worse, both movies are in FS.

JackBurton 05-22-07 01:17 PM

I recently got the HD-DVD of Road Warrior and was not even aware that it contained a commentary track. I'll have to give it a listen.

Oh no!! I just ordered it from Deep Discount. I'm going to go cancel my order now - thanks for the warning.
