My guys never stop to read a box. What a waste of time and it throws a huge hole in the system of how I move people. The un-packer, or un-loader is the only man to read a box as far as the company...and it's done as it's coming in or going out of the truck. We request that our pre-packed clients not label the box with contents and where it goes. Anything to make a mover stop and read just sucks more time & $ from my client. I'm known for speed...thats a big part of our reputation and #1 ranking. Instead, # the box and add a fragile sticker if needed. Then, # the room it goes in on the outside of that rooms door. Then...be standing as each mover enters the house and look at the box, see the # and direct if needed.

So yes, for the most part....my workers don't have to read a box. Just pick the damn thing up and get it moved. Myself and my client will tell them all they need to know. Been that way for years.

Are non-keepcase hubs (i.e. Gone With the Wind: SE, or any of the LOTR: EE sets) more likely to let loose their discs on impact than keepcase hubs? I think in all the years I've been ordering DVDs online from Amazon, DDD, and others, I've only had about three or four floaters ever. And they were shipped at least part of the way on the ground. I'm guessing it must take a substantial jolt to really get discs to come off.

It's nice to hear that your company is so efficient, Gutwrencher. The customers probably dig that a lot. I cannot wait until the day I can actually afford to hire movers. Most of my stuff can be moved by my wife and I, but I don't have a clue how we're going to move our armois (and the damn piano is staying here!).

rotfl

Try "gay porn"....

Seriously though, I've gone thorugh a few moves now and I travel quite a bit. I transferred all my DVD's to binders and it's been great. I don't notice any scratching on my discs, certainly not anything that would hamper the ability to play the disc.

Don't mark the box DVD (so movers don't know what it is - mark office junk or something) and load it in the POD out of the way. I am getting ready to move my 1000 disc collection and they are going in the trailer with everything else. When moving, DVDs is the last thing you need to worry about - especially in a small car. My computers, Big Screen and AV equipment all worry me much more than my collection. Oh, and transporting my cat.

I keep all my movies in wallets. Just get a good quality one and you won't have a problem with scratching. It will save you loads of room.
