Does anyone know whether or not the pilot is going to be part of the series set?

I sure hope so. I've held out on it in hopes that the first season set will have it. Plus Rising is kind of expensive by itself.

I just bought the season on regular dvd. I purposefully have held off on some series (Smallville), figuring they would be released in HD, but this surprises me. =/

Yes -- Rising Part 1 and 2 are both part of the season set for Atlantis. I have the set, but have not watched it yet. All I have done is check to see that Disk 3 (IIRC) was not a duplicate of Disk 1 (as stated in a different thread at DVDTalk). (It may have been stated as only a Canada release thing - checked anyway, U.S. set - mine was OK, no duplication.)

Can't say I'm too surprised by it... not too bothered by it either. Maybe I'll feel differently when I finally get a look at HD-DVD but right now the set looks great to me as it is.
