Coolest Menus

For some reason, I pay a lot of attention to the menus on my dvds. I really love the Criterion Fear and Loathing menu. I like a lot of interesting, subtle menus like on the recent Fly special edition and the Eraserhead menu.
Any other cool menus come to mind?

National Lampoon's Van Wilder (especially the unrated version...) :eyebrow:

I like the menu to Cinderella on the first disc

I like the Hoop Dreams menu.

I really thought the use of the newspaper and the different sections of the newspaper was creative and really fit with the theme of the documentary. Was cool the way the sections flipped to one another, haven't really seen this in other menus.

It'd also be interesting hearing WHY people like certain menus over others.

Fight Club. Nice, clean, accessible.
Seven. Same again.
Panic Room 3-disc set. The blueprint of the house becomes three-dimensional with the menus in different rooms. Very nicely designed.

The Face of Another (MOC) has a pretty cool menu. It isn't animated but I find the audio loop very appropriate for the movie, especially the song in German.

I like the menus for ALIEN 3 better than all of those. So that goes for the whole ALIEN QUAD set as well. Moody and atmospheric, simple to understand and use, easy-to-read, captures the spirit of the films, etc., etc.

In general, I think you can't go wrong with Criterion. Their menus are always exceptionally classy and elegant, no matter what the film is. Plus, they use the menus to provide text explanations and informative set-ups for what you're about to see, which I like.

I like the quiet simplicity of the menus for Season One of LOST. Perfectly conveys a feeling of isolation and dread, and all with easy navigation.

On the whole, I think Warners has the worst menus, especially when it's family and/or genre titles. They always try to get too gimmicky with their menus, like with HARRY POTTER or, as I've been hearing much about, BATMAN BEGINS.

I just like menus that capture the mood of the film without relying on film clips but offer easy navigation and informative interfaces. In that regard, Criterion usually delivers and Warners usually fails. Universal sucks as well.

The Killer released by Fox Lorber is my favorite.

Any menu that doesn't take forever to get to the "play" option is cool with me.

The coolest ones are the simple Superbit menus, since I abhor animated menus that you have to sit through after wading through the pre-ads and previews. If I had to pick a menu, it would be either the aforementioned Panic Room 3-disc or the Aliens menu from the original set.

"I Drink Your Blood" really stood out to me.

I really like the Lost TV show menus...the design of them is quite nice. The menu text seems like it's part of the photo behind it...sort of goes along with the whole emersive feel to the show.

I like Lost as well but I think my favourite would have to be Criterion's Tokyo Olympiad. I just think that the multiple frames with the slight time delay makes for an amazing looking collage.
