Is the Demise of Guzzlefish Now Official?

Well, it's been about a month, and I've been unable to connect to Guzzlefish. I am assuming the site is gone forever, as many have suspected. Anyone heard any differently from other sources?

Now that the sig issue has [kinda] been resolved, looks like i'll have to take that dead link off..

does anybody have any details on this? It was fine and now its gone, all that info ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Brain Stew 10-08-05 05:13 PM

C|Net bought out Guzzlefish to get the code. They ported it over to mp3.com, you can store your collection there.

Check it out:

As far as I'm concerned, Guzzlefish can R.I.P.

Buford T Pusser 10-08-05 09:19 PM

What was Guzzlefish?

A DVD cataloguing site that had some nice features, but was poorly maintained and was frequently down.

What was fine about it? They went over 6 months without adding new releases to the database. I liked them when they first started out, but they fell completely apart quickly.

I think by "fine" he means that it was working.

Example: It was working fine and now it's gone.

From what I know, Guzzlefish was bought by CNET, but they havent figured out what they plan to do with it. So yes. Its basically dead until further notice.

I already stated in post 5, CNET bought Guzzlefish for the code. They have taken it and put it on the mp3.com website. You can store your CD collection there.

I think I read somewhere about it being bought by CNET for the code.

lotsofdvds 10-10-05 09:20 AM

Didn't CNET buy it?

steebo777 10-10-05 10:52 AM

I read somewhere that it was bought by CNEt, but I'm not sure. Anyone in this thread know?

Not free, but you may want to take a look at MediaMan.

No, no, no, that's not correct. What actually happened is CNET actually bought them.

MEJHarrison 10-10-05 11:30 AM

What a waste. They were a good site back in the day. That's why I use DVDProfiler (priimary site), DVDAficionado and DVDSpot. Never hurts to have multiple backups. It's a shame someone didn't snatch up GuzzleFish and, if nothing else, steal the code for some other purpose.
