Best DVD of September 2005

I always enjoy these threads, not necessarily the poll part (cause the choices are never right LOL), but the comments...
didn't see anyone post it yet.

The answer is obviously No Direction Home.

I list my fave since it's not always the best.

Howling 2? rotfl...just kiddin'.

Many fine titles last month:

Garbo-Signature Collection
To Kill a Mockingbird-Legacy Series
Ben-Hur(4 discer)
Rumblefish-SE
Blind Dead Collection
A Whisper In the Dark(No Shame)

....but the one that could have won turned out to be the biggest waste of time...The Outsiders. Yes, I loved the added scenes! No...I did not like the change in music. Ruined it!

So my choice?

Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key(No Shame)

Fraggle Rock: Season One

Sept was a slow month for me.

I'd have to say TNA Wrestling Anthology. 6 DVDs of great action for less than $20!

That or Spongebob Season 3.

Lost: The Complete First Season

Sept was a slow month for me.
I bought a ton in September... but have only looked at a couple discs... of the ones I have seen, Crash stands out as the best movie. The Mark Romanek Director's Label is probably the best disc.... actually, the only other disc I bought that was released in September that I even looked at was the new Mallrats and I was very disappointed by that...

Anyway, I do have high hopes for most of the titles I picked up - the rest of Director's Label box 2, No Direction Home, Masculin Feminin, An Angel at My Table, Naked, Bad Timing, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Major Dundee, The Deer Hunter, The Sting, Born into Brothels

And I bought the new Longest Yard, but I have a weird Burt Reynolds thing going on, so we can ignore that.

But for me, it's a tie between Crash and the Mark Romanek disc right now, mainly because I've gotten a chance to watch them!

There will be a few of you out there....thats a given. But like I said earlier, it's the award winner for most screwed up release of September. The extended version scene wise...is wonderful. But the bonehead music switch did nothing but leave a nasty, sour taste in my mouth. It would have been my winner, hands down. Sadly....it ended up being a mistake instead.

Thank Christ Rumble Fish turned out well.

I too was very disappointed with the music, seemed like I was watching somethng totally different. The added scenes were great and added a lot more information to tie things together. Good thing I kept my original copy. Will have to check out the Rumble Fish disc.

My vote:
The Miracle of Morgan's Creek

Honorable mentions:
Ben-Hur: Four Disc Collector's Edition
Garbo: The Signature Collection
A Guide to the Married Man
(in honor of DVD Savant)

Special Grand Jury Prize:
No poll in "Best DVD of September 2005" thread.

joliom 10-05-05 09:33 PM

Without a doubt the Ben-Hur: 4-Disc CE. It's one of the Top Five DVD's period, let alone for the month of September. Of course if we're talking personal favorites...well that's just a whole other bag of clams altogether.
