Most unique DVD set you own?

Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks

It includes a full concert, 6 HBO shorts, as well as a few shorts created specifically for the DVD (just imagine Jack Black jerking off to the Rocky theme song). Bunch of other stuff as well...

Is this one of the "special" features?

Stella Shorts. It's a compilation of the shorts that the guys from Stella (Michael Ian Black, David Wain, and Michael Showalter) made for their live shows a few years ago. It was only available for a short time (I bought it right away, so I don't know how long it was avaialble) from the stella website.

Commentary is included on every short.

I guess by unique I was thinking of a DVD that was unique in and of itself, not necessarily the content.

The Orgazmo 2-disk Canadian version. Its my only bi-lingual cover. :p

I have the Hellraiser Box set from R2 that looks like the puzzle box in the film. It's pretty cool.

ALso have this, and have the Phantasm sphere on order.

Honestly, I think my favorite odd set would have to be the Alien Quadrilogy, just for the awesomely cool artwork, and the INSANELY long foldout digipak setup.

As far as "unique" meaning not many people have them, I have a pretty large collection of Star Wars movies, including several mastered from LD (theatrical editions).

canaryfarmer 10-04-05 02:41 PM

It's nothing toooo special, but I'm going to have to go with my R3 Army of Darkness. I love it so. :hump:

Giles 10-04-05 02:50 PM

and what's up with the Evil Dead and II's flesh-books - they smelled like rancid dick cheese - the former more so than the recent one

shizawn 10-04-05 03:14 PM

The only set I have that's of any kind of limited availability is that Amazon exclusive Kurosawa box set.

I'll have to take your word for that.

None of my DVDs are unique..... each one has thousands of others just like it. ;)

I really like my Nausicaa 'Figure Set' Japanese import

Buy the complete Highlander series... it's got like 3 or 4 of them ;)

About the only unique casing I have is the Cadfael collection that looks like a book and the Kurosawa box set Amazon had for awhile. Overall though I've been slowly trying to convert all my cases to binders and decrease the amount of room taken up

If you're just talking about DVDs, the most unique/limited I have is probably The Hire although I'm sure there might be some more limited/special edition/OOP/hard to find type things in my collection. I really haven't tracked it that much.

Any unique packaging I get, I throw out (Band of Brothers, Quadrilogy, Matrix Ultimate) and replace with standard cases and custom covers.

Cinemaddiction 10-04-05 05:48 PM

Probably my 3 Disc LE of "The Pianist". Blows the US release out of the water, and includes the original soundtrack, which is absolutely incredible, I might add.

Thanks, Canada!

While I'm at it, thanks for the OAR "Ginger Snaps", loaded with extras, including the Katharine Isabelle screen test.
