The Wire Season 2 - Widescreen?
 

In the HBO store, they show Season 2 DVD of the Wire as being "Widescreen [4:3 Transfer]". Does this mean it is true widescreen? My copy says 4:3 aspect ratio on the back of the box and is not widescreen. Is there a widescreen version available? Walmart.com and Circuitcity.com both show Season 2 as widescreen as well. I went to the Circuit City store and it was the same version as what I have. It did show "ws" on the price tag. I'm beginning to doubt that there is a widescreen version. Any help is appreciated!

My copy is NOT widescreen. Season 2 should be 4:3, because that is how it was filmed.

Thanks Eric! I guess it wouldn't have been such a mystery had I watched it on HBO. Sure hope the upcoming season 4 is widescreen (Hi-Def too).

The show is composed for and broadcast in 4:3. It is not produced in high-definition, and HBO has indicated that it will not be moving toward HD in the coming season either.
