What kind of movie-themed dvd packaging would you like to see?

All this recent talk of the Evil Dead 2 BotD edition has got me thinking, I sure would like to see some more movie-themed special edition packaging out there. Japan gets a lot of this type of stuff, what with the Alien head quadrilogy case, the I, Robot Sonny head case, etc.

I for one would have liked to see a "Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy" special edition dvd packaged in a case resembling the actual "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" book.

I do prefer it if the studios don't put form over function though. i.e., I hate fancy "looking" cases that make it a pain to get the discs out (Simpsons: Complete Sixth Season, I'm looking at you) or that scratch the discs (BotD).

What about you guys? Maybe a "Donnie Darko" packaged in a case resembling the "Philosophy of Time Travel" book

Big Trouble in Little China should come in a six-demon bag.

I'd like to see the Sin City Extended Edition in a life-size and anatomically correct Jessica Alba shaped box.

Given the propensity to see complaint threads immediately when some of this special packaging is announced, I will go with the safe "I don't want to see ANY" pick and leave it at that.

Of course, I think it studios really want to do special packaging, it should be for a limited edition run, not for the entire freaking run. AFAIAK, Fox screwed the pooch with Simpsons season six because they forced the box on everybody, even though they gave a way out to the fans who wanted a replacement. But all it did was piss off the majority of people. Was it worth it? Did the sales increase? (That's an honest question...I have no idea.)

As far as limited edition...if Pixar/Disney actually had released Toy Story in a toy box, that might have been cool.

I should have mentioned that I meant dvd packaging within the realm of possibility :P ... I can just picture it now, receiving a Sin City dvd packaged in a life-sized Jessica Alba case... and having the neighbors think I just ordered some kind of blow-up doll

Pulp Fiction in an attache case that glows in the dark when opened.

Oops - Calculon, great minds think alike.

Ghostbusters in a box that replicates the look of the ghost-capturing contraption thing.

Forrest Gump packaged to look like a box of chocolates.

Shawshank Redemption in a hollowed out Bible, complete with rock hammer.

2001: A Space Odyssey encased in a mini-monolith.

Eraserhead in a full-scale replica of "the baby" ... not all that big so it should work!

LOTR trilogy in a giant ring with light up elven writing would be hot. It's feasible, too.

A Transformer boxset that looks like a regular boxset, but can be refolded and shaped into Optimus Prime.

Custom covers are your friend. Check out this one from designer Nemesis:

He also did a matching insert that looks like the book menu. The preview pic is too large for me to post here though.

This is how I'd like it too. I use custom covers for almost my whole collection so the "fancy" packaging just sits in a box in a closet. I have one big box filled with things like the Band of Brothers Tin, Quadrilogy box, Ultimate Matrix box, Lion King box, etc.). I just like having nice looking single width cases on my shelves.

Yeah, but you'd probably end up losing it in a huge warehouse (filled with other wooden crates).

Halloween set shaped like a pumpkin with room to fit ALL the movies, even if Anchor Bay doesn't own the rights to some of them..

Seven, in a cardboard box with
Spoiler:
Paltrow's severed head.
It doesn't have to be a replica.

Along with special packaging I would like to see DVD's come with a cool movie prop. For example: Scarface should come with an 8ball of coke.

I like to see:

Dances With Wolves in a leather diary, similar to the Evil Dead book. Oh wait, I have it!
Almost Famous: Packaged with soundtrack on vinyl, perhaps in a faux-copy of Rolling Stone
