I remember watching this one night on HBO back when I was still in high school. Don't remember much about it, other than it was freaky and disturbing.

Seems like there's a "lost generation" of b-movies that came out in the late 80s/mid-90s that have seemingly vanished. They might have gotten a VHS release and some play on cable and then disappeared without a trace. Seemed like "Hardware" was destined to be one to be one these.

Thank you as well! I will probably pick this up instead of the Optimum Release, granted there aren't huge differences on release.

I have the red edition from Germany. Can not wait for the R1 release on blu-ray.

I almost ordered the UK release, but was unsure if it would play on my player.

This brings me back to a time like Josh-da-man said when there were a lot of B- and C sci-fi movies. Not all good of course but still, a good time to be a 14-year-old.

Just went by WEEDEDOUT mentioning it was a Steelbook :)

I don't see Severin putting the film out in a set similiar to the old AB tins, but I could stand corrected.

i wouldn't bet on it. it is most likely a tin with like postcards in it and stuff like that (with similar stuff from UK). i don't think SteelBooks are in vogue with the company any longer :(

I've also spotted the DVD for pre-order at DD, BN, and CD Universe. DVD Empire doesn't have it in stock yet.

Do we know for sure that the Blu-ray (currently the cheaper of the 2 on amazon) will contain the same disc content as the limited ed 2-disc standard DVD? I'm guessing the kinda high MSRP may be due to a tin and some postcards?

OT: I've noticed Amazon's been doing this with a lot of pre-orders lately, although today the SD is $19.99. DVD Empire has the SD for $20.99 and the BD for $24.99 (both inc. shipping).

TWO WEEKS LATER: "We have just been informed by the studio that the release date for 'Hardware' has been changed
to 10-20-2009." At least it will happen at some point. Here's a cool video for those in anticipation:

sounds really chock full of good stuff. i think i remember copying this from another VHS tape or something and was the worst quality imaginable. remembered not liking the movie too well, but back then i was very young and stupid. now, i am just the latter.
