DVDTalk Draft Game…Voting Round 3…we need YOUR votes!
Welcome to round three of the DVDTalk Draft Tournament! In this thread, the players drafted a roster of ten DVDs each. Now, it is up to you, the DVDTalk community, to vote on who has the best collection.
We are now in round 3 of this single-elimination tournament. In order to vote, you need to reply to this post telling me who you think has the best roster. Your vote will not count unless you vote on every pair! Players in the game are also allowed to vote. Optionally, they are also allowed to post to this thread telling everybody why they think you should vote for their collection. So, let the voting begin! The polls closes on Monday, exactly 24 at the timestamp of this post. Match-ups will be listed in the first reply to this post. Good luck to all the participants, and congrats for making this far! |

1. jfrost 2. RyoHazuki 3. cleaver 4. William Fudd |
jfrost’s Collection
ryuryu2949’s Collection cleaver’s Collection slop101’s Collection |
1. Toughest matchup so far. I like or love every movie on both lists except Panic Room. jfrost is diverse across genres, Franchot is diverse across eras. God damn this is hard. When I started typing I was going to say Franchot, but I just talked myself into jfrost. Raging Bull is the only DVD that I watch again and again in Franchott's collection, whereas I find most of jfrost's DVDs very rewatchable.
2. Another toughie. Band of Brothers is so damn strong, but Seinfeld season 4 is no slouch. It's like ryuryu2949 planned these matchups: Unforgiven really helps to neutralize The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, a pick that truly broke my heart. Yakuza Papers sounds sweet as hell, but I confess I'd never heard of it 2 weeks ago. I thought I wouldn't have to do it, but I've got to decide by judging what I like least. While I think Old School is merely above average, I don't view Eraserhead and To Kill a Mockingbird as must have (flame suit on), as opposed to everything else there, so I'm going ryuryu2949. 4. In William Fuld collection I've seen Mulholland Drive, 2001, In the Mood for Love, and Simpsons Season 4. After watching Mulholland Drive, 2001, and In the Mood for Love, I had absolutely no clue what the hell I just watched. Slop101 chose good to great movies and really good to great DVDs. 1. jfrost 2. ryuryu2949 3. cleaver 4. slop101 |

I'm glad you took that the right way; I meant that as self-effacing and not critical. I was hyped to see all those movies and I felt like a moron afterward. |

Alright, let's rock
1. jfrost vs. Franchot jfrost has great dvds of more modern films, and Franchot has great dvds of more timeless classic films advantage: Franchot 2. ryuryu2949 vs. RyoHazuki I own every dvd in ryuryu's collection, and I own all but one in Ryo's advantage: ryuryu2949 3. cleaver vs. dollfins1 This one was sorta easy, I only love about 2 dvd's from dolfins' collection, while I love about half of cleaver's advantage: cleaver 4. slop101 vs. William Fuld I own all the dvds from Fuld's collection, and love them all, but I love my 10 picks even more (though I'm ashamed of myself for not picking any Bunuels) advantage: slop101 |

This Round’s Match-Ups
1. jfrost vs. Franchot both great collections, but the first one had more titles in it i don't care for than the second one. Woody Allen beats Die Hard for me. 2. ryuryu2949 vs. RyoHazuki as much as I love Eternal Sunshine, the second group has more solid titles in my opinion. 3. cleaver vs. dollfins1 some very nice classics. 4. slop101 vs. William Fuld i think is the best hardest matchup this time. I would have probably voted slop's collection over any of the other 6. |
