The Island ------> December 6th 2005

According to davisdvd.com, December 6th is release date of this Michael Bay film on DVD.

jaeufraser 08-26-05 03:59 PM

Why is Paramount releasing a Dreamworks/WB coproduction? Odd...

Big Worms 08-26-05 04:03 PM

Damn they are announcing these fast. I guess they went to get them all in for the holiday season.

Nooooooo!!....

Skoobooz 08-26-05 04:42 PM

Paramount is not releasing this. Here is the statement from DavisDVD:

"Paramount's Hustle & Flow and the box office dud The Island street on December 6th."

Same date, different studios.

Rypro 525 08-26-05 05:04 PM

Sounds good, I liked the movie. wonder who's releasing this, warner or dreamworks (oh how i'd love a dts 5.1 soundtrack for this movie.

Damed 08-26-05 05:20 PM

I'm surprised they are annoucing the DVD, considering the plagarism lawsuit and all.

TomOpus 08-26-05 05:29 PM

I liked the movie enough to get the DVD. Hopefully more people will check it out after having a chance to actually KNOW what the movie is about.

I thought that might delay the dvd release, although I am very happy it didn't. I really liked the movie and can't wait for it to come out.

PGHFlyer 08-26-05 05:53 PM

I thought this was a great, enjoyable summer movie. In fact, much better than I expected. Of course, I had no expectations because there had been next to no marketing for it.

matome 08-26-05 06:55 PM

I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to seeing it again on DVD.

AdamComic2 08-26-05 07:26 PM

I thought the ISLAND was awesome. I really hope this makes it do DVD.

ReduxGuy 08-26-05 07:35 PM

Here's to hoping for a great transfer and a DTS-ES track.

It was jam packed ;)

i liked it enough to merit a purchase...i want to see it again to hash out some questions i had upon first viewing.

ReduxGuy 08-27-05 12:57 AM

:weak lol:

Libby 08-27-05 02:22 PM

much better then I'd expected. I'll be picking this one up...or better yet as for it for christmas instead.

Cornelius1047 08-27-05 03:58 PM

Yeah, even with 24 screens at my local AMC, this one disappeared pretty quickly, so I never got a chance to check it out, eventhough I was quite interested in checking it out. Michael Bay tends to disappoint on a lot of levels (and I'll probably never forgive him for Pearl Harbor), but I actually did want to see this one. I'll most likely rent it first though.

BiMonSciFiCon 08-27-05 04:37 PM

I kinda liked this one as well and am also looking forward to picking it up when it appears on DVD

Fincher Fan 08-27-05 08:13 PM

I probably pick it up if there's a commentary by Bay. They're better than the movie itself.

matrixrok9 08-27-05 10:34 PM

Yep, that's what Bad Boys 2 was lacking.

jmj713 10-03-05 02:09 PM

So this is moved from 12/06 to 12/13? Still no specs eh?

ChristianB 10-03-05 08:16 PM

The ad in the latest edition of Video Business says:

"A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Creation Of The Film's Incredible Action Sequences And Harrowing Stunts"

"Commentary With Director Michael Bay"

"And More"

Scott Weinberg 10-03-05 11:03 PM

I hope there's a Michael Caine/David Warner commentary!

OK, stupid moviegeek jokes aside, I thought this was a damn entertaining movie, and this is coming from a guy who'd rather sit through novocaine-free root canal than watch Bad Boys 2 or Pearl Harbor again.

I'm not surprised the movie "bombed" in the U.S., but I liked it a lot.
