I’m not changing my story at all. I may have worded it weird, but it’s just that, as far as I knew, my clock was correct – and I didn't even think of checking DVDtalk's clock, because I thought it was off. It wasn't until after I posted that I found out they fixed their clock: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...=425629&page=3

You could have checked the left side of your post, which says the date and time of each post. Ignorance is no excuse, my friend. If I were you, I would make a backup pick, because if Groucho says Goodfellas is mine, you might be out of luck.

You are saying that you thought it was off, but in your earlier post you said you thought your clock was the same as dvdtalk's clock. AND you said that you knew your clock was right. How can you think that your clock is right and the same as dvdtalk's, therefore making dvdtalk's clock right, and think that dvdtalk's is wrong? These are conflicting thoughts.
Regardless, thinking that you are posting at the right time doesn't mean that you are posting at the right time. Fact is, your pick was early.

As you guys already know, Round 4 Has Begun

Some rulings...

Because I never specified which clock to use, slop101 gets the Goodfellas 2-disc...but, from now on make your submissions based on the DVDTalk clock.

ryuryu2949 gets Shawshank Redemption LE

Fronchot gets Raging Bull SE

Anomaly gets Family vol 2

(please note that I am not monitoring the thread 24/7, so rulings might take a while...be patient)

Groucho 09-01-05 01:04 PM

<center>Alternates Needed!</center>

The following players have failed to submit their choices for the last two rounds, which means a new player can now jump in the game and take their place!

Hoolieman
<s>jdpatri</s>
Dmacsg1
Atreus
<s>Scott Weinberg</s>
illenium
Bobbin

To join as an alternate, merely reply to this thread with the player you want to replace. You will get their current collection, and can draft whatever remaining picks you have left (up to this round).

Spread the word that we need more players!

Scott Weinberg 09-01-05 01:09 PM

Are my posts invisible?? ;)

My Rd. 2 pick: The Thing SE
My Rd. 3 pick: Firefly - The Complete Series

Groucho 09-01-05 01:16 PM

Scott Weinberg is back in the game! Note that you also have a fourth round pick you can now make.

slop101 09-01-05 01:45 PM

Thanks Grouch - And so there'll be no hard feelings, I'll penalize myself by not posting my 5th round pick 'till Saturday.

Scott Weinberg 09-01-05 01:45 PM

OK then. I'll snag that Monty Python and the Holy Grail Special Edition.

obscurelabel 09-01-05 01:59 PM

2:59pm EDT: "Searching has been disabled"

I was trying to check if this had been chosen, but I don't think so, fourth pick is:

Sid & Nancy (Criterion)

Groucho 09-01-05 02:16 PM

The best way to see if your pick has already been chosen is to browse to page one of this thread and use your browser's "Search" function. Now, the first page isn't always up to date, but it'll give you a pretty good idea.

Round 4:
Sid and Nancy (Criterion)

Oops, didn't see obscurelabel's post....

Regarding the Seinfeld set: Why? Nothing in there was released previously. According to Amazon, this set AND the one with the first 2 seasons AND the 3rd season individually were all released on November 23, 2004. They were all released on the same day, therefore it's eligible.

from your rules:

b. No box sets that contain previously-released DVDs

Thanks in advance for reconsidering.

I would consider Seinfeld Gift Box is both a box set (of multiple season sets) *and* a tv pick. Since you already have a box set, I don't think it would be fair to give you this one too.

I'm not going to allow the set for anybody else either. Consider it another "executive decision" that may or may not be consistant with the rules. ;)

You're right, it's certainly not consistent with the rules.

c. Only one movie box set per player
d. Only one television season set per player

The rules clearly state that you can have a movie box set and a television set. You allowed the Seinfeld 1&2 combo, the 1, 2 & 3 combo is no different. Now, rule d. may imply that it's singular, but it doesn't necessarily specify that (and by allowing Seinfeld 1&2, you've already established that it's plural). ONE movie set and ONE tv set. That's what I selected. Again, thanks in advance for allowing this set which is well within the rules you established.

If for some unknown reason you still won't allow that pick, then I'll take the Seinfeld Season 1 & 2 combo which you've alread stated was eligible, but the person that had it swapped it for something else (season 4).

Groucho 09-02-05 08:44 AM

New rule: Special exceptions: the following DVD's have also been excluded from the game, and may not be picked: Warner Legends, Warner Gangster Collection, and Seinfeld 1-3 Gift Set. This list may be expanded at either time.

Now everything is official.

jfrost 09-02-05 09:57 AM

For my 5th pick, I select the Ulimate Die Hard Collection.
