Kill Bill and others

Just thought I would let ya know I recieved a $75 gift card for my work anniversary and decided to pick uup some DVDs I had put off until the price drops. Kill Bill and Pulp fiction were on my list and never dropped so I picked them up at $13.50 each at Wally World along with Benny Hill and a $5 Stephen King movie. As queer as it may seem I had never watched Kill Bill until last night and enjoyed it immensely. Off to buy Kill Bill 2 tonight. Is Kill Bill 2 as good as KB1?

I too waited until they came out on DVD. Both movies are different, but good in their own way. If nothing else, part 2 finishes the story part 1 started.

You might try searching in the Movie Forum where there has been a lot of discussion about the movies.

snoogins pretty much sums it up, though.

Although the prices never dropped, they go on sale for $10 pretty frequently at places like CC and Target. For the record i didn't like Kill Bill part 2 as much as part 1,but it was still good.

I enjoy the movies for what they are, excellently produced homages to the Hong Kong film industry. I liked 1 better than 2 overall. Too many Tarantino moments crept into Volume 2, distracting from the overall aesthetic.

Remember, friends don't let friends fool themselves into thinking QT is a deity of some sort.

I think Kill Bill Vol. II is even better than the first. It's an excellent film and worth buying.

I thought KB2 was just as good - though different. FYI, this movie is being released as a director's cut soon and will come out as such within the next few months. Tarantino did some story/scene shuffling when he was told to cut the movie into two parts. I will be holding out for the deluxe DVD release of this which is supposed to include Pt1 & Pt2 as well as the extended director's release.

Out of curiosity, do you not have a Best Buy near you? They have been advertising everything you've mentioned for $9.99 fairly regularly. I doubt it would drop any less than that...

Yes and thanks to all. I can stop at a Best Buy. lots of traffic there so I avoid that area unless I have a misson. thanks again Phil

Target has the Kill Bills packed together for 17.99 this week, and pulp fiction/jackie brown for that price too, a good deal.

I try to no longer think of them as two separate movies.

GameGenie 08-18-05 01:21 PM

I like Kill Bill better, its alot more story.

I saw Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown 2-pack bundle for $19.99 at Target.

I though Kill Bill 1 was better. Also I'm waiting for the SE to be released.

Kill Bill is an homage to exploitation films in general, not just those from Hong Kong. It also includes nods to Japanese, Italian, Swedish and American films (at least). The first part has more of the Japanese/samurai aspect while the second has more Spaghetti Western. Most of the action is in the first film.

PopcornTreeCt 08-18-05 03:38 PM

Kill Bill Vol. 2 is a whole lot better than the 1st one. There's story, great dialogue, and heart. Part 1 has a really long fight scene.

PotVsKtl 08-18-05 03:52 PM

Isn't this in the wrong place? That's nice you got a gift card, but this is just a discussion of Kill Bill.

Filmmaker 08-18-05 04:00 PM

Kill Bill 2 is the better half-a-film; richer and more textured. The coffin scene is a true nail biter, and the fight with Darryl Hannah is the best of the bunch.

conscience 08-18-05 09:36 PM

Even though Kill Bill Vol 2 is excellent, it can be tedious to some.

On my first viewing in the theatre, I was trying to unnumb my ass in certain parts - and I really thought the ending (not the final final scene, but the one before it) was extremely pretentious, but after watching it a few times I understood "why" Tarantino went that way.

Kill Bill Vol 1 is an enjoyable thrill ride, btw.
