Decided to post some pics since it has been quite a while. Recently got the new Sony 42" LCD tv and added a ton of dvds and a second bookshelf for boxsets.
-Here's the new TV and the rest of the equipment...still need to mount the center channel above the tv and get the XBOX360 hooked up.
-side view of the room and the dvd rack
-back view of the room with my new couch and the other rack of dvds.
-closeup of the TV and equipment (Marantz SR6300 Receiver, Denon DVD-1600 DVD/DVD Audio player, Sony 42" LCD Projection TV, B&W 600 series speakers, XBOX, PS2 etc...)
-Main DVD rack (smaller one is the girlfrend's rack)
-Newer bookshelf with boxsets etc on it...running out of room sucks.

Where did you get the dvd rack that is beside the smaller one? I want one like that. I have about 6 of the ones that your girlfriend has. Got them at Walmart. They only hold about 75 each. I'd like to get a big one or 2 and free those up for cds or games. BTW, how many do they hold? I have about 500 dvds.

Oh what the hell, the basement's an embarassing mess, but here's my storage solution. 1x6 pine cut to length, fastened together and to the wall with flat and angle irons and drywall screws. It's cheap, incredibly sturdy, and very easy to expand as the collection grows.
Now I'm off to tidy up and break out the Swiffer. Amazing what the camera flash will expose when you're used to low light...

Your collection deserves a better TV.

Number count?
wow that is really amazing. How are they organized?
Tv shows (alphabetical by name)
Digipacks (Some large digipacks first, then alphabetical by director)
Snappers (alphabetical by title, will change it to director)
3. shelf from left:
Genres (alphabetical within genre): Blaxploitation, Euro cult, Giallo, Spaghetti westerns
Movie series' in alpahbetical order by series name: 007,..., Star Trek, Star Wars etc.
From then on it's alphabetical by director (some by actor, Charles Bronson might be the only one) and in release year order within each director.
7. shelf from left:
Korean films in alphabetical order
Japanese films in alphabetical order and then some by director, star or movie series
Hong Kong films in alphabetical order by director or star and then some miscellaneous Hong Kong flick in alphabetical order (the director names are too hard to remember).
Was that specific enough?
Ahhh... the custom spines...
That is the classiest, most organized dvd collection I have ever seen in my entire life. Good job.
Agreed. Mikko Rasinkangas's collection is a thing of beauty and gave me ideas on how to better organize my own dvds.
