DOCTOR DOLITTLE in TODD-AO

I read in THE 70MM NEWSLETTER that FOX struck a new TODD-AO print of DOCTOR DOLITTLE. I saw it in 1967 when it first came out and the 70mm image was spectacular. It would be nice to have a new TODD-AO dvd transfer instead of the current 35mm print that is on dvd now. Fox did a great job with the TODD-AO transfer of HELLO DOLLY.

any video mastered from 70mm to IMAX would look amazing on DVD (or the upcoming Blu-Ray that Fox has committed to)- Oklahoma is another film that is mentioned and rumoured to being remastered as well.

70 Mm

"Hello, Dolly!' looks great on DVD but they could have done a better job with the sound and the extras. It's not 5.1 and it should have been as the 70 mm version was in six track stereo. I'm hoping they will redo it someday soon. By the way, a local theatre was scheduled to screen the 70mm print of "Dolly" last week but had to cancel the showing as they stated that the print was damaged beyond repair. Maybe if and when they strike a new 70 mm print, they will put out a new DVD. If they can keep releasing "The Sound of Music", they could give "Dolly" and "Dolittle" an upgrade. I've seen specials on "Dolly" showing a lot of screen tests, including Ann-Margret as Irene. That would have been a great DVD extra.
