I kinda figured they would sell the movie by itself anyway....Always loved that movie.

My memory fails me....the movie was about lost treasure, right? Something about Scrooge and the boys going out into the desert...Or is that the movie release later on in the series? The 'Golden Sun' sounds familiar...but I can't place it.
|
Ok, after a little bit of investigating, I do remember it. This sucks that they chose not to include it, since it is the 'first' 5 episodes. Maybe they plan to do an individual release of it?
|
Oddly in some twisted way this info could be right. You can evenly split the show up into three volumes of 27 if you don't add the 4 big multi part episodes. Maybe a forth volume could be ducktale movies or something and throw in the feature...so 19 episodes and the movie. I honestly hope this is not the case....however disney has done some stupid things in the past....

Now if we can get Talespin I can die a happy man.

*sings the theme song to BOTH shows*
Count me in for both of these sets. :) |

Yeah, thats a huge disappointment. I always loved the multipart episodes and that one was the best. I always looked forward to them replaying it when the show was originally on. If they release it as a seperate disc at the same time then i will be fine with it. |
This thread just made my day, I loved these shows when I was a kid. This is excellent news!

Ultimatedisney.com has just updated with cover art for both ducktales and rescue rangers. It seems like tvshowsondvd.com was right with the 27 episodes, as they each say "Volume 1 Episodes 1-27". But there is no update on the specific episodes meaning if they are doing things in airdate order or if multi-part episodes are included.
I personally think the rescue rangers art looks much better then the ducktales. I hope it's art isn't final. |
Where's Tale Spin?
|
i think the covers are spiffy.
I really like them. |
Cover for the Chip' n Dale is good, but I don't like the Ducktales one at all. Hate the background color, image of the characters, etc. - just boring.
And I am really disappointed that we are not getting the first 5 episodes of Ducktales. How could they left that out! That is the story that introduces all the major characters and how they met. They were always my favorite. So disappointed with this. They better release some kind of special edition for this soon - and have separate episodes, not cut them to make one continuous movie or something. |
I kinda wish they would just release the whole series with the movie at once. It would be a bitch to check all the discs for working, but it would also give us a set at once that we could just go ahead and prevent us from having season sets that don't match because they change packaging from one season to another.
|
Wow. Duck Tales. I never thought it would happen. I used to watch this show every day after school for years. Chalk another set of encoded shows that I can get rid of! I think I'll wait until ALL the episodes are announced before I buy them and get rid of my encodings, though.
C'Mon Dr. Katz and The Real Ghostbusters! |
I would assume by the box saying 'Episodes 1-27' that means it airs in order. Otherwise it could say '27 Episodes'.
|
I really love the Rescue Rangers cover art, but the Duck Tales one is sort of blah. Hopefully they improve it for volume 2.

Edit: I must be crazy. I just checked TVTome and the list looks the same as what tvshowsondvd.com lists (except, of course, Treasure of the Golden Suns 5 parter). Where the hell did I get the list below? It's possible that the list below is the production order, not the airing order. Ok. I have checked TVTome versus The Big Cartoon Database (www.bcdb.com) and the bottom line is that bcdb.com lists what I had for episode lists and tvtome lists what tvshowsondvd.com lists for the "first 27" episodes
Here are the rumored episodes for the DVD. I have listed the TVTome airdate and the bcdb air date: (Hopefully the tabs look right to everyone) <pre> Episode BCDB TVTOME 1) "Send In The Clones" (44) 7/8/1988 9/21/1987 2) "Sphinx For The Memories" (40) 6/10/1988 9/22/1987 3) "Where No Duck Has Gone Before" (50) 8/19/1988 9/23/1987 4) "Armstrong" (6) 10/16/1987 9/24/1987 5) "Robot Robbers" (43) 7/1/1988 9/25/1987 6) "Magica's Shadow War" (20) 1/22/1988 9/28/1987 7) "Master Of The Djinni" (59) 8/21/1988 9/29/1987 8) "Hotel Strangeduck" (63) 11/18/1988 9/30/1987 9) "The Lost Crown Of Genghis Khan" (45) 7/15/1988 10/1/1987 10) "Duckman of Aquatraz" (64) 11/25/1988 10/2/1987 11) "The Money Vanishes" (57) 10/7/1988 10/5/1987 12) "Sir Gyro de Gearloose" (48) 8/5/1988 10/6/1987 13) "Dinosaur Ducks" (39) 6/3/1988 10/7/1987 14) "Hero For Hire" (61) 11/4/1988 10/8/1987 15) "Superdoo!" I remember watching it as a kid and it was a new episode every day, but those were the airings in syndication. Did they air on the Disney Channel first? |
Dang, you guys are wound a little bit too tightly. Considering the episodes are not being shown at all today, the only options are to buy a "ebay special" or the Disney set. If you don't like the Disney release, you can probably get the entire series+movie for $30. I'm still bummed they haven't released the movie(s) yet. Region 2 has had the Treasure of the Lost Lamp for months and months...
And according to Wikipedia, we are getting the first 27 episodes, minus the Treasure of the Golden Suns. And I will agree that missing those first 5 episodes stinks since you are losing a lot of character introduction and development. Episode list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DuckTales_episodes Numes, thanks for looking up the episode information. I had some older lists from when I was trying to Tivo the shows and match the episodes up against some production cels that I own. I couldn't find my old list but stumbled onto Wikipedia and it seems to match your episodes in bold. |

There is no reason why these can't be released by airdate. Why randomize them? Whats the point? Im still confused if its in the correct order or not. We need a Ducktales expert.
