If there's ANY movie that came out this year that should have a DTS-ES track, it's Batman Begins. But, I'll still buy it with or without that option.

Harlequin was the daughter of Jack Napier, and she wanted revenge! It was rumored to have a scene with the Batmobile chasing Scarecrow through the dark woods on horseback. That would have been cool. But in a way B&R spawned Batman Begins.
That one image--the Batmobile pursuing Scarecrow on horseback through the dark woods--that's exquisite. At least in my imagination. I can see elements from Batman and Sleepy Hollow combining to create a great visual atmosphere. Also like the idea of another Napier threat. Nice tie-in with the first.

But since this is old news, and will not be happening, nevermind.

How do you know that they're not saving the really good stuff for a possible 3-disc uberedition?

That's what I was thinking. They have to hold something back for the inevitable re-release to coincide with the sequel.

Before we start seeing the "I'm holding out for the uberedition" gallery begin their panning of this first release, I'll be there on release day for this one. DTS would be great, but having the movie at home will be great regardless.

I really didn't intend my sorrowful observation about the possible lack of a DTS audio track on the Region 1 release to be nitpicking. Ever since I acquired a system capable of decoding DTS, I have been very enthusiastic about the format, and find that it really adds to my enjoyment of the film. I will purchase BB regardless, but if you recall, I also asked whether or not there might be a DTS option available in other regions. So far from picking at nits, I was positing a serious and, I hope, constructive question regarding our options.

No need to explain yourself Scott. It seems there will always be the DD vs. DTS war going on. Personally, I prefer DTS, and have no qualms about expressing my hope that it's on most new DVDs. War of the Worlds

Was hoping for a commentary from Christian Bale. Still a looks like a solid disc though.

Well, sort of. We know it's there, but we don't know where to find it, much like the eggs in an Easter egg hunt.

How about instead of quoting Batman & Robin, we quote Batman Begins
Gordon: I never said thank you.
Batman: And you'll never have to.

Fair enough.

"I'm not gonna kill you, but I don't have to save you."

Something like that at least.

I would rather have a barebones release that contains DTS.

2 pages of posts and no release date mentioned?!?

wish list: I want the Batman Begins segment from the MTV Movie Awards as an easter egg
Spoiler:
Batman drives Jimmy Fallon (inserted in Katie Holmes' place) around in the Batmobile... and Batman is revealed to be Napoleon Dynamite

It's Speilberg, so you're pretty much guaranteed a DTS track.

Who cares what the specs are, as long as it's anamorphic widescreen I'll be buying it.

Amazon is currently listing two editions for this:

WIDESCREEN VERSION:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd

DELUXE VERSION:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd

Though there aren't specifics, it looks like WB is doing their one-disc/two-disc thing, like with Phantom of the Opera. But there you go...October 18th for both.

Since they're the same price, I would guess Amazon just screwed up and put the same DVD under two titles.
